King County Department of Executive Services (DES) Fleet Services Division is looking for a Fiscal Specialist 2 to join our finance team. This position primarily supports the Fleet Operations section's Parts and Materials Team and Fuel lines of business. This position presents an opportunity to showcase your skills in a variety of areas, including accounts payable financial transactions, customer service, and teamwork.

ABOUT FLEET SERVICES DIVISION

The Fleet Services Division manages King County's portfolio of vehicles and equipment. The team performs acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of approximately 3,000 fleet assets for the County's services associated with the Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Roads, Parks, Wastewater, Water and Land Resources, and other agencies. The division manages two maintenance shops which include robust storerooms of automotive parts, materials, and construction supplies as well as several technicians working in the field to support remote customer sites.

In addition, the Fleet Division is responsible for the disposition of the county's personal property assets, which includes a surplus warehouse in Georgetown. Disposal methods can include re-use within the county, donation to verified and approved non-profits, and sales through online portals or sealed/negotiated bids.

Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must demonstrate skill and ability to:
  • Perform basic coding of financial accounting and/or fiscal information.
  • Perform calculations involving accounts payable.
  • Perform accounts payable transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Enter inventory receipts and returns in Oracle EBS.
  • Process p-card expense reports on behalf of Fleet's Parts and Materials Team.
  • Audit and reconcile invoice data and vendor statements.
  • Collaborate with business partners to resolve AP processing errors.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers on the phone, in writing and in person, in a professional manner.
  • Assist with workflow documentation and improvement.
  • Work is performed under general supervision and requires a moderate degree of independent judgment to process incoming mail and documents, attach related correspondence or information before forwarding as appropriate, select mail to handle personally where the response requires specialized knowledge of the assigned function, identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters, and maintain security and confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidates will:
  • Have a strong background in accounts payable processing.
  • Be experienced in Oracle financial and procurement transactions.
  • Welcome managing and prioritizing a high volume of Accounts Payable invoice processing with a strong attention to detail.
  • Be proficient in the use the Microsoft Office including higher level skill in performing financial calculations using Microsoft Excel in your daily work.
  • Be eager to learn about King County Fleet functions and processes.
  • Thrive working both independently and working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Be flexible and comfortable in a change environment and be excited to learn new skills and implement new processes to continuously improve services.

Additional Information for the Fleet Services position: This position will work on-site at the Fleet Maintenance facility at 155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056. Occasional travel to other Fleet offices in downtown Seattle and Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood may be required. A hybrid telework schedule may be an option in the future depending on business needs and successful completion of the 6-month probationary period.
