- This position is a part-time, term limited temporary position lasting up to 24 months.
The Department of Adult & Juvenile Detention is seeking a part-time Fiscal Specialist II candidate who can provide technical, financial, accounting and/or fiscal support services. Duties also include basic coding of financial, accounting and/or fiscal information, and calculating accounts payable.
The incumbent performs financial, accounting and/or fiscal support tasks that are technically or procedurally complex. Duties include performing basic coding of financial accounting and/or fiscal information; performing calculations involving accounts receivable and accounts payable; and reconciliation of accounts and payroll. Work is performed under general supervision

- Provide specialized and/or technical information that requires moderate interpretation of established policies, procedures and guidelines to internal and/or external customers. Some incumbents may have to deal with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
- Compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, microfilm, or computer files, including spreadsheets and/or customized database applications.
- Perform basic numerical calculations involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, reconciliation of accounts, monitoring of routine expenditures, payroll and/or other applications.
- Perform basic coding of financial, accounting and/or fiscal information.
- Enter, obtain and/or verify financial, accounting and/or fiscal information following established clearly defined methods and guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance to customers with regard to appropriate and applicable codes, policies, regulations, contracts and laws.
- May compose, draft, type and/or word process, proofread and edit documents, contracts and/or correspondence.
- Process mailings and documents that may require attaching related correspondence or information; select mail to handle personally where the response requires specialized knowledge of the assigned function; identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters; and maintain security and confidentiality.

- High school diploma or G.E.D and 3 years of full-time work experience in accounting
- Knowledge of general office principles and practices
- Knowledge of software applications relative to the position assignment; MS Office software programs.
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematics
- Strong communications skills verbal and written skills to compose, edit and maintain a variety of document, reports, and correspondence.

WORK SCHEDULE: The current opening is for a part-time 20-hour work week. Work hours are normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work schedule may be flexible, such as work 5-four hour days or 4-five hour days, however subject to department needs. There may be an occasional work week of up to 29 hours.This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible. The part-time, term limited temporary position is expected to last up to 24 months.
WORK LOCATION: King County Courthouse, 516 Third Ave, Room E-245, Seattle, WA 98104.
The work associated with this position is currently being performed remotely and is anticipated to remain remote with some in-office hybrid schedule as deemed necessary by DAJD/Finance management. In-office work could be scheduled in King County facilities located in either or both Seattle and Kent.

TELECOMMUTING: More than half of the work for this position will be performed onsite but there may be opportunities for telecommuting, depending on operational need.
Any work performed via telecommuting will be in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
