The King County Medical Examiner's Office (KCMEO) has an annual $7 million budget, and is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death for sudden, unexpected, violent, suspicious, and unnatural deaths.
The office is seeking a Fiscal Specialist III, to be responsible for purchasing, tracking income and expenditures, running reports, paying vendors, budget prep, and other ad hoc financial and administrative tasks.

Job duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Research and summarize specialized or technical information from varied sources, which requires selecting the most appropriate material and the use of spreadsheets and/or customized database applications. Verify and reconcile data discrepancies.
- Purchase goods and services for the program using a County supplied credit card
- Interpret established County and MEO policies, procedures, codes, regulations and other sources to internal and external customers over the phone, in writing, and in person; handle sensitive, confidential or potentially volatile situations in a calm, professional manner
- Draft, summarize, prepare, proofread and edit various documents
- Collect and present information for budget, grant and contract preparation
- Perform tasks requiring the application of accepted bookkeeping, or basic accounting methods and applications

- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use formulas, charts, and pivot tables
- General accounting and/or payables experience that includes processing invoices, purchasing, and cash management.

- Demonstrated strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position will typically work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, but may need to adjust schedules based on work needs.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- The selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check. Having a criminal record is not automatically disqualifying.
