- Summary
The Green Skills and Pathways coordinator role will play an integral part in piloting new initiatives to support the King County workforce in growing their sustainability-focused skills. The role will also lead the development of innovative outreach and engagement campaigns designed to highlight high-demand positions in select industry sectors across the green economy. This position will have the opportunity to help support the implementation of King County’s Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) and Green Jobs Strategy while making valuable connections across the county workforce, including local community-based organizations and external employment partners.
This position is based in the DNRP directors’ office, led by executive-level leadership for the entire Department of Natural Resources and Parks. This role will also support the King County Climate Action team, an interdepartmental team matrixed to the King County Climate Office. This position presents an opportunity to be at the forefront of King County's efforts to reduce GHG emissions, support sustainable and resilient frontline communities and ensure climate preparedness in our communities and infrastructure.
The Green Skills and Pathways Coordinator will collaborate with the Green Jobs Program Manager to implement key directives connected to the Green Jobs Strategy. These include developing and launching the Green Skills Development Fund pilot, supporting identified county departments in their green career pathways goals, and designing and implementing a schedule of career engagement events and outreach campaigns (ex. job fairs, social media campaigns, workshops, career days, job shadows and tours) tied to promoting the green economy and green industry sectors to frontline communities throughout the county.

Duration: This Special Duty Assignment (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position is anticipated to be up to one (1) year in duration.- Job Duties
Manage the development and implementation of green skills development pilot connecting King County employees to short-term training and credentials to increase the sustainability skills of the county workforce. Duties include facilitating workgroups to advance project priorities and achieve consensus on implementation strategies.
Act as a liaison, collaborator, and project manager in partnership with identified King County departments to meet green career pathways goals outlined in Green Jobs Strategy.
Lead the development of events and community engagement campaigns in collaboration with frontline communities designed to highlight opportunities in the green economy and green jobs to frontline communities (historically unrepresented communities affected first and worst by the effects of climate change) throughout King County including job fairs, social media campaigns, workshops, career days, job shadows and tours.
In collaboration with the Green Jobs Program manager, assemble and convene internal and external county work groups to support the success of the Green Skills development fund pilot and the development and implementation of outreach and engagement events geared toward frontline communities.

Telecommuting and King Street Center
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employee will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.
Work Location: Primarily teleworking and the King Street Center 201 S. Jackson St., Seattle WA 98104. There will be an expectation to travel to various worksites throughout King and South Snohomish County as needed for your work
Work Schedule: This position is non-exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Monday through Friday.
