King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) in close partnership with Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) is standing up a Health Ambassador initiative. Health Ambassadors will play a critical role in our region’s ongoing effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and preserve hospital capacity. King County residents’ bold action and unified purpose earlier this year avoided the out-of-control infection rates and overwhelmed hospitals that other communities and countries experienced, but we now face new challenges. COVID-19 cases are back on the rise, and hospital use and COVID-19 deaths could soon follow unless County residents redouble efforts to observe public health precautions with renewed unity and enthusiasm.
The King County Health Ambassador Initiative Manager is a critical leader in our effort to reduce coronavirus in the region. The initiative lead will serve as a leader in the COVID Emergency Services Group. They will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation and coordination of the Health Ambassadors Initiative. To be successful, the lead is a critical thinker, a problem solver, a strong communicator, and a team player that will work closely with the COVID Emergency Services Group Leadership Team, PHSKC, and the community.
The Initiative Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Health Ambassadors initiative, what will become a complex large-scale project requiring multiple agency integration and implementation. This highly visible and politically sensitive position will report to the COVID Emergency Services Group Director.
This is a 6-month Special Duty position that could be extended up to 8 months depending on need and circumstances.

Work Schedule: This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, although flexibility in hours may be required. This position in exempt from overtime.

- Manage the implementation of the Health Ambassador Initiative, including the ongoing development and coordination of efforts to ensure alignment with goals and priorities.
- Train and supervise the Health Ambassadors and Health Ambassador Initiative Administrative Specialist and additional staff as they are hired.
- Lead efforts to integrate initiatives with Health Ambassador efforts.
- Develop, recommend and implement modifications or revisions to the existing operating procedures.
- Work with the COVID Emergency Services Group leadership and evaluator regarding data collection and reporting for continuous improvement.
- Represent the program and act as liaison to internal and external customers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in planning and/or implementing social services, community health services, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding and experience with emerging guidance related to COVID.
- Familiarity with concepts of continuous improvement and project management.
- Demonstrated communication skills, professional level writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines, work on several tasks simultaneously, and organize and prioritize work quickly in response to changing needs.
- Demonstrated experience in using 2010 Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel throughout the County in a timely manner.
