King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is standing up a Health
Ambassador Initiative. Health Ambassadors will play a critical role in our region’s ongoing effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and preserve hospital capacity.  King County residents’ bold action and unified purpose earlier this year avoided the out-of-control infection rates and overwhelmed hospitals that other communities and countries experienced, but we now face new challenges. COVID-19 cases are back on the rise, and hospital use and COVID-19 deaths could soon follow unless County residents redouble efforts to observe public health precautions with renewed unity and enthusiasm.


The Health Ambassador Initiative Support Staff Scheduler is supporting the manger to successfully launch a new program designed to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The position will be primarily focused on coordinating and scheduling the Health Ambassadors that will be working to support communities that are disproportionality impacted by COVID-19 to embrace the key mitigation strategies. The scheduler is expected to work on-site at the Tukwila office. Some work may be performed remotely or at the King County Chinook Building in downtown Seattle.

This is a 6-month Special Duty or Term-Limited temporary position that could be extended up to 1 year depending on need and circumstances.

Work Schedule: This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, although flexibility in hours may be required.  This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval.

Job Duties

  1. Schedule Health Ambassadors that are working at various job sites.
  2. Provide support to Health Ambassador Initiative on boarding and training efforts.
  3. Track, order and as needed help to distribute the initiative supplies.
  4. Monitor and refer emails appropriately to the subject matter experts.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  1. Four or more years of experience scheduling and staffing social services or healthcare-related services.
  2. Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner as a team member and develop working relationships with departmental and external stakeholders.
  3. Outstanding communication skills, ability to listen with compassion and to synthesize information quickly and accurately for recording purposes.
  4. Outstanding organizational skills, ability to plan/perform work independently.
  5. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  6. Ability to work in fast-paced environment and adapt to change quickly.
  7. Significant experience working with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  8. Experience organizing large projects and coordinating with multiple participants.
  9. Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel efficiently throughout King County.
