- Summary
- The HIV/STD Program is seeking one (1) Community Outreach Specialist to help distribute free condoms throughout Seattle & King County.The Condom Distribution Pilot Project aims to increase the availability, accessibility, and acceptability of free condoms in diverse communities and varying venues in an effort to promote condom use in order to decrease the transmission of HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). This position is responsible for identifying and recruiting businesses, organizations, and other community locations to participate in the Condom Distribution Project. This position will also monitor and refill established Condom Cubes, process returned condom inventory, prepare materials necessary for outreach, maintain and organize the project’s supply stock, and deliver condoms to community based organization and non-profits upon request.Please Note: King County is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. - Job Duties
- Assemble Condom Cubes for placement at local businesses, organizations, and publicly accessible sites in King County
- Identify and recruit businesses, organizations, and other community locations to participate in the Condom Distribution Project
- Monitor and refill established Condom Cubes
- Process returned condom inventory
- Prepare materials necessary for outreach
- Conduct monthly inventory counts of project supplies
- Maintain project supplies and a cleaned, stocked, and organized work area
- Respond to condom distribution project inquiries by phone, by email, or in person, as necessary
- Collect, record, and enter data using established protocols and templates
- Provide referrals to sexual health information, health care services, and other resources to community partners.
- Serve as a liaison between community members, community sites, and the Condom Distribution Project

- Comfort approaching community sites to participate in the condom distribution project

- Ability to drive a County vehicle to locations around King County
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Valid driver's license
- Bilingual (English/Spanish & Other languages) welcomed

- Public Health relies on Microsoft Office, and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
- Regular, punctual, and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
- Staff may be required to play a role as a first responder in the event of a Public Health emergency.

Some of the work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. It is possible that the work will be primarily performed remotely on an ongoing basis after July 5, 2021. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

WHO MAY APPLY: This Short-Term Temporary (STT) position is open to all qualified applicants. This position will work from approximately May through December for up to 30 hours/week.
WORK SCHEDULE: Variable; Schedules will only include daytime shifts Monday through Friday.
WORK LOCATION: Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave, Seattle WA 98104, and outreach locations throughout King County. This position may require flexibility to accommodate different work schedules and work locations.
