Summary

The Community Health Services Division of Public Health | Seattle & King County is seeking a Healthcare Navigator II to join our Team!

The purpose of this position is to educate and enroll eligible King County residents into various benefit programs such as Apple Health, Qualified Health Plans, ORCA Lift, Basic Food, Energy Assistance, Breast & Cervical Health, King County Adult Dental and other programs, in person or over the phone. This position will work at White Center Public Health three days a week and will be stationed around King County the remainder of the week. It will be the main support for Public Health Regional Teams. The Healthcare Navigator II will establish and maintain new outreach and enrollment sites in targeted gap areas and assist in developing an outreach plan for the upcoming insurance program for undocumented. This position will provide education to community partners, ensuring awareness about our services and programs. It will assist in developing culturally appropriate educational materials, handouts, and trainings and will work with Program Managers in reviewing uninsured data and ORCA Lift data to identify and address the gaps and increase enrollment of eligible populations. They may coordinate community outreach events and fairs. Evenings and weekends are mandatory for this position. Must be willing to drive to various locations throughout King County on a regular basis.

Work Schedule & Location:

This position is on-site and works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm
Evenings and weekends are mandatory for this position. Must be willing to drive to various locations throughout King County on a regular basis.

This position will work at White Center Public Health | 10821 8th Ave SW; Seattle, WA 98104, three days a week and will be stationed around King County the remainder of the week.

Job Duties
  • Educate King County residents about their eligibility for health insurance, ORCA Lift and other programs.
  • Enroll eligible clients into Qualified Health Plans which includes explaining coverage, tax credit options and comparing plans available.
  • Provide community-based presentations about Health Insurance, ORCA Lift, Basic Food, Energy Assistance, and other programs.
  • Provide brief health messages about accessing health care benefits and preventive health care.
  • Create culturally appropriate materials about eligibility and/or the services we offer
  • Travel around King County to aid community
  • Create action plans to increase awareness and enrollment in gap communities
  • Conduct outreach throughout King County at health fairs, libraries, medical clinics, and community-based agencies
  • Develop referral relationships with new partners
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to clients and other King County navigators
  • Answer the Community Health Access Program (CHAP) phone line.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Certified Navigator in Washington State
  • Prior experience conducting outreach for Apple Health or Qualified Health plans.
  • Prior experience with enrolling clients into a Qualified Health Plan under the Affordable Care Act.
  • Prior experience outreaching to community-based agencies.
  • Excellent Communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities.
  • Skilled in relating to and working with clients from various cultures, racial and social and economic status
  • Ability to work travel to various locations throughout King County.
  • Awareness of immigration requirements for State-Federally sponsored programs.
  • Ability to work to work well independently; work in team setting; use independent judgment.
  • Skilled in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule and drive
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual in English and a language we commonly serve (Spanish, Amharic, Dari, Somali, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Chinese, or COFA languages)
