Human Resources Supervisor (Z3 : KC Personnel Guidelines)

The Department of Public Health (DPH) is thrilled to add a new member to the Human Resources team, and we invite you to apply! DPH seeks a strong leader and team advocate for a HR Supervisor to fill a Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) position within the department. This one-year assignment could be extended depending on the need of the department.
As an HR Supervisor, you will provide direct supervision and support to our talented recruitment and selection team. Providing continuous improvement, prioritizing workflow, increased efficiency, and communication as we partner with our divisions and contribute to Public Health’s mission of eliminating health inequities and maximizing opportunities for every person to achieve optimal health. This position gives the successful candidate a unique opportunity to get involved in the many duties of an HR professional in a rewarding environment that will provide a solid foundation for future HR professional growth.

- In collaboration with the Public Health HR Manager team, assist with workflow, work prioritization, and continuing to grow and support strong partnerships with the divisions we support.
- Support the recruitment and selection team as an engaged leader, who can back the guidance and counsel of staff, reduce ‘answer shopping’, and support consistency across the work unit.
- Support consistency and quality by establishing process checks and standard work in the areas of equity in recruitment and selection practices, communication standards, review/approval and tracking of Personnel Change Notices, and other HR processes and procedures.
- Advise, coach, and train managers, supervisors, and colleagues on personnel rules, employee disciplinary and corrective actions, classification and compensation system, employment, HR policies, guidelines, county code, employment law, labor and contract administration, and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Support healthy conflict engagement services to individuals and teams in conflict, focusing on restoring and healing working relationships.
- Develop, conduct, and oversee fair, objective, and equitable recruitment and selection processes as needed; provide recruitment and hiring services to hiring manager throughout the department to meet the department workforce and business needs.

- Have a strong, demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service to our employees.

Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities.
Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
