We are seeking a skilled Integrations Network Architect specializing in network architecture to join our dynamic team. The Integrations Network Architect is to serve as the lead designer responsible for setting strategic direction, providing technical leadership and oversight, integrating new and emerging technologies into production, and defining roadmaps - for both net new deployments and the continuous improvement of KCIT's Network Services domain.
The role of this position is to create IT architecture & design solutions based on business requirements, industry trends, and technology options. The Integrations Network Architect will be responsible and accountable for the solution architecture in partnership with enterprise architects, domain architects, and engineering teams. The Integrations Network Architect will partner with the delivery teams for solution planning, delivery, detailed design and implemented solutions. Integrations Network Architects ensure the implemented solutions are consistent with the approved architecture. Integrations Network Architects communicate, mentor, and lead teams based on program or project needs for solution delivery. You will work with a team consisting of business partners, business and data analysts, solution architects, data architects, data and infrastructure engineers, quality engineers and other technical roles in an Agile delivery environment. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements . King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.

Job Duties
- Analyzes available assets (frameworks, reference architectures, etc.) to detect critical deficiencies and bridge the gap between the as-is architecture and the to-be architecture.
- Collaborate with other Solution Architects in developing complex end-to-end Enterprise solutions on Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Platform platform.
- Work with vendors, architects, and lead engineers to define best practices and evolve next generation capabilities and features.
- Ensure compliance with information security policies and regulations.
- Design and engineer capabilities and features with the application engineer in mind, making adoption easy.
- Participate in all phases of multiple project initiatives, often concurrently, including requirements gathering and analysis, development, design, testing and production planning, reviewing and approving deliverables.
- Create functional diagrams, interface diagrams, and technical design specifications as related to the business and project requirements.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of network infrastructure and it components and improve system efficiency.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- 10+ years' professional Information Technology experience.
- 7+ years' hands-on architecture with broad IT discipline integration experience.
- Solid understanding of network technologies, application architecture, application and infrastructure security, and infrastructure architecture.
- High integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and willingness to do what it takes to make the team successful.
- Team player, good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Creative, likes challenges.
- Experience with network onboarding and provisioning in cloud environments.
- Familiar with NIST - 171 security framework, Azure Defender, AWS security hub, Guardduty, Macie
- In-depth knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and best practices for secure network design and implementation.
- Familiarity with security regulations, standards, and compliance requirements for network environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud networking services like VPCs, Direct Connect, VPN gateways, transit gateways, network firewalls, and web application firewalls across AWS, Azure, and other major cloud providers.
- Strong understanding of network security controls, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring tools in the cloud.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with SD-WAN, SDN, and network automation tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience in designing and implementing network solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Project management skills and experience leading IT projects from conception to completion.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, CISSP) are a plus.
