Come join our team! The King County Facilities Management Division (FMD) is looking for a graduate intern to support its efforts in moving to a fully digital file system. With a large majority of professional staff working remotely, it is more important than ever for FMD to control and manage, both our digital and hard copy file systems. In doing so, this allows FMD to further promote information awareness and understanding within the organization.
This intern position will conduct a comprehensive survey of current practices, analyze information flow and needs within the various sections, gain an understanding of data storage needs and develop an initial plan on how to transition file management to a digital realm.
The intern we seek will be a strong interviewer and writer, have strong interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, a problem solver, know how to stay calm and composed under pressure, be focused on results, be resourceful, and be respectful of others. They will also be comfortable with software and quick to learn multiple systems and applications.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:
- Conduct an initial assessment of the current state of data/file management practices within FMD, both digitally and physical
- Assess division needs to transition to a majority digital based file management system
- Assess current use of SharePoint and digital file sharing and make recommendations on processes to improve information sharing and flow within the organization
- Interview employees at all levels of the organization and in various work locations
- Take detailed notes as employees discuss how they are managing their digital and hard copy files
- Follow up with individual business process owners, as needed, to get clarification on the information collected
- Reformat documents as needed to ensure consistency across the organization
- Use established naming conventions to rename and save all newly branded and formatted documentation onto a SharePoint site if needed
- Follow established steps to move newly branded and formatted documentation onto a new intranet platform that will be developed in the future
- Report out to management team on progress
- Prepare written recommendations based on the data discovered

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a full-time college student through the duration of the project, and provide proof of enrollment
- Ability to work on this initiative through 2020, and into 2021
- Strong computer skills and fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and related programs
- Enrollment in a Library Science, Data Management, or Computer Science undergraduate or graduate

OTHER POSITION INFORMATION:
- This internship is expected to begin in September 2020, and run into 2021.
- We expect this position to work a 20 hour work week. The exact schedule will be established by the successful candidate and his or her supervisor.
