The Solid Waste Division offers a number of innovative programs and services focused on waste prevention, resource recovery, and waste disposal.
The Solid Waste Division provides garbage transfer and disposal, and recycling services for approximately 1.3 million residents and 660,000 employers in King County. The King County solid waste system serves a large unincorporated area and 37 of the 39 cities in King County - the cities of Seattle and Milton are not part of the King County system.

Work Location: Cedar Hills Landfill, 16645 228th Avenue SE, Maple Valley, WA 98038.
Work Schedule: This position works a 40 hour workweek and may be required to work alternative or flexible work schedules to support core service hours. Service hours are weekdays 6 a.m.-9 p.m., and weekends 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with prior supervisor approval.
Physical Environment/Requirements: The candidate must be able to work in a high traffic maintenance facility with possible adverse conditions such as noise, odor and dust. The candidate must also have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. at least once daily with or without assistance.

- 3 months understands and learning King County ordering and payment system
- 6 months understands Stores layout and location of parts within Stores, making deliveries to SWD Transfer Stations, and knows vendor locations for picking up supplies
- 12 months should be proficient in the operation and use of King County SWD Stores payment system and use CCGFASTER with minimal assistance needed

What You'll Be Doing:
- Receive, store and issue supplies and materials primarily for the repair and maintenance of heavy duty trucks and equipment.
- Maintain and update computerized purchasing/inventory records.
- Input and research inventory and direct purchases, disbursements, inventory adjustments and the history of parts use.
- Pick up, deliver, load and unload items as required.
- Perform warehousing functions using forklift and other material handling equipment.

You Should Have:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a heavy equipment/truck parts purchaser or heavy duty equipment/truck parts inventory maintenance and control; or experience in working with heavy equipment and ordering truck parts using an automated and computerized inventory and ordering system that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy duty equipment, truck parts, and automated inventory purchasing system
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- A minimum of two (2) years of heavy equipment/truck parts purchasing or counter customer service experience; or a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a high-volume heavy duty equipment supply organization or equivalent work experience
- Working knowledge of CCGFaster inventory software
- Verification of a valid Washington State Driver License is required upon hire
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within (90) days of hire
- Successful pre-employment physical examination
