Summary
King County leases well over 10,000 workstations. King County Department of Information Technology's (KCIT) Customer Support Services (CSS) team is seeking to hire an IT Technician focusing on Deployment and Decommissioning. The successful candidate will take the lead for decommissioning of the County's leased and owned workstations and peripherals. This position may also participate with workstation deployments as time permits. This position will assist in every aspect of the end-of-life client workstations and peripherals, from assisting in the deployment of new devices, returning old systems and placing them in a two-week hold, reviewing and responding to customer requests regarding their old computer, bringing workstations back online for customers, assisting with customer file recovery, preparing workstations for lease return, e-cycling owned workstations and end-of-life peripherals. Additionally, this position will assist in delivering new equipment to King County staging areas in the downtown Seattle corridor. This position will also support physical inventory scans at various County locations.

Job Duties
- Support recovery of hardware
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with workstation hardware/software
- Utilize diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting
- May be assigned to support life cycle replacements and new employee hardware deployments
- Collaborate with other IT service teams
- Create technical documentation
- Actively manage assigned tickets with accurate and timely information
- May train other staff members on assigned processes
- May be required to drive to different county locations
- Other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated knowledge in the following areas typically found in those possessing one year or more of experience:
- All client computing lifecycle processes, from receiving new equipment, repurposing equipment, retiring end of life equipment, inventory management and proven exceptional organizational skills in a large agency or any combination of relevant experience/education/training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
- Demonstrated understanding and personal examples of implementing lean concepts and principles
- Demonstrated experience coordinating IT-related work with external vendors
- Basic knowledge of computer technology principles, with application and troubleshooting techniques
- Basic Knowledge of data and system security and other similar technical processes
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain exceptional customer relationships
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with management, peers, other KCIT service teams and customers
- Demonstrated positive attitude towards peers and leadership, learns from mistakes, seeks feedback, is open to criticism, and is easily coachable
- Demonstrated ability to maintain technical documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities
- Excellent Written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) process.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Successful completion of criminal background check and fingerprinting
