Juvenile Assessments Program Coordinator
- Summary
The responsibilities of this classification include gathering information on, triaging (determine what type of evaluation is needed) and tracking clinical evaluations; interviewing stakeholders and directing requests for clinical information and reports. The incumbent educates, mediates, assesses, and provides resources to assist parties in At-Risk Youth, Juvenile Offender and Dependency cases. The incumbent maintains data about the program's performance and provides reports, and makes recommendations for program enhancement.

Work location: This position is located at the Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle. The incumbent may be required to work at other facilities as assigned.
Work schedule and terms: This a full-time position working a 35-hour work week. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime-eligible. The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Variations from these hours may occur.

The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:
- Assess the provision of clinical evaluations and subsequent recommendations for substance abuse, mental health, psychological, or psychiatric services.
- Oversee the provision of written reports to court stakeholders and to the court in accordance with federal and state requirements, monitoring status to ensure timeliness.
- Provide clinical case consultation to court stakeholders and programs.
- Facilitate discussion and interpretation of clinical assessments for judicial officers, attorneys, probation officers, and other professional staff. Provide education and training regarding clinical assessments.
- Facilitate communication between staff, external service providers, and evaluators to achieve consensus around service recommendations.
- Serve as a resource to service providers, offering training on Superior Court processes, administrative and logistical support, and providing feedback.
- Gather data on program performance, maintain database and provide reports.
- Make recommendations for program enhancement and assist in implementation if approved. Implement program enhancements within existing scope and budget.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field and three (3) years of professional experience in related field or clinical area of assignment, or a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field and one (1) year of professional experience in related field or clinical area of assignment. Experience conducting and/or coordinating clinical evaluations highly preferred. Experience in case management and general clinical expertise in adolescent and family dynamics, counseling, evaluation and assessment techniques is desirable. Experience working with community-based adolescent mental health and substance abuse treatment providers, including ethnic-specific providers is desirable.
Working knowledge of juvenile offender matters including serving diverted, low, moderate, and high risk youth. Working knowledge of dependency matters, therapeutic courts and At-Risk Youth petitions. Working knowledge of DSM IV, ASAM criteria and other clinical resources.

Necessary special requirements: Finalists must successfully pass a criminal background check and reference check. Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to travel throughout the County by alternate means.
