King County's Department of Community and Human Services seeks a proven leader, manager and veterans issues expert to oversee the County's growing King County Veterans Program (KCVP). The new KCVP leadership position combines into one entity the County's existing veterans assistance offices in Seattle and Tukwila with new and continued veterans programming made possible by the recent passage of the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL). The King County Veterans Program Manager is a new position. This position will report to the Veterans Administrator who oversees all of King County's Veterans initiatives. This position will lead the robust direct services for veterans through the King County Veterans Program.

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible.

- Supervise two KCVP site supervisors, each of whom manages a team of 6-8 social workers, social service professionals, and/or administrative support staff serving veterans from offices in Seattle and Tukwila;
- Design and monitor compliance and quality assurance protocols to ensure that KCVP satisfies statutory and regulatory requirements while supporting County strategic priorities around Best Run Government and Equity and Social Justice;
- Manage staff and contracted partners in the execution of multiple, simultaneous initiatives to improve the housing stability, financial stability, social engagement, healthy living, and service system access for veterans and their families in King County;
- Develop and implement plans, timelines, and budgets to conduct full-cycle oversight of King County Veterans Program, including contract monitoring and performance management, performance measurement, and continuous community partnership;
- Lead/Oversee KCVP's expansion into digital social work and outreach through collaboration with Veterans Administrator and internal partners;
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of direct services;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

4. Supervision/leadership experience and a team orientation with a willingness to coach, mentor and support colleagues while being coached, mentored and supported by colleagues;

7. Expertise and experience in researching, formulating, and executing policies or programs that serve and support veterans and their families;
8. An aptitude for quickly and clearly understanding mandates, parameters and requirements; forming and articulating a vision based on those factors; and developing and implementing plans and leading teams to realize that vision;
9. Recent experience managing multiple complex programs and projects that set and measurably achieve important outcomes in equity, efficiency and effectiveness;
10. Experience in the creation and oversight of program budgets;
11. A combination of life experience, work experience, and/or education (advanced degree in law, public administration, social work, systems engineering, humanities and/or another field relevant to serving veterans and their families) that equips the candidate to credibly set strategic direction, work with community partners, and lead a team serving veterans, military service members and their families;
12. Proficiency in the use of personal computers, with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access or other database programs, Internet and Outlook;
13. Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel around the county in a timely manner.
Desired Qualifications:- A history of professional and/or volunteer experiences that demonstrates long-term commitment to serving veterans and their families.
- Life experiences that engender insight into working effectively with veterans and their families and with those who serve veterans and their families;
- Familiarity with the theory and practice of Results-Based Accountability.
- Familiarity leading a large government unit, section, agency.
- Experience participating in or leading a budget process.
