The Legal Project Manager II position is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal Unit of the KCSO. We are seeking an experienced candidate knowledgeable in researching electronic records, maintaining and creating record systems, and skilled in drafting responses to discovery requests. This role will serve as administrative support, managing multiple deadlines, responding to government entities, and will partner with senior legal advisors on daily demands and emerging issues as they arise.- Job Duties
This position will also perform other duties assigned to the Legal Unit, under the supervision of the Senior Legal Advisor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Independently perform research and analysis, using an array of e-discovery search tools, databases, centralized record management systems, and data management systems.
- Maintain legal unit files and records; create file management system
- Provide administrative support to other Project Managers and Legal Advisors
- Organize and prepare documents in preparation for arbitration.
- Contribute to the completion of various legal unit projects, such as:
- Subpoena requests (criminal and civil).
- Coordinate with other King County departments to develop discovery and e-discovery plans.
- Develop strategies to search for and locate records in multiple forms and specialized databases.
- Identify custodians and gather documents required for unfair labor practices and grievances.
- Coordinate with King County Risk Management Tort Claims Investigators regarding property damage and auto accidents involving King County employees.
- Ensure the Sheriff's file, Bail Schedule, and Ethics Program are current.
- May also provide support to the Legal Advisor who manages litigation and legal issues impacting the Sheriff's Office.

Competitive candidates will have experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position OR any equivalent combination of experience and education which demonstrates they are well organized, flexible, reliable and a team player. Candidates must have three years of progressive experience in providing administration and research support to a team. Additional qualifications required are:
- Highly skilled at working on conducting research, gathering information and analyzing data.
- Demonstrated skill in delivering detail-oriented work that is consistent and of high quality
- Demonstrated skill in using sound judgment and critical thinking skills to creatively solve problems.
- Demonstrated skill in utilizing various database and record keeping systems to gather, manipulate and use data.
- Knowledge of research methods for electronic records.
- Knowledge of general government principles and procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously with constant interruption and shifting priorities.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal oversight.
- Ability to deliver excelling customer service; work with professionalism, courtesy and tact with all levels of contact (legal teams, Sheriff Office personnel and the public)
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, collaborate, and work effectively with a small team to meet common goals and accomplish tasks.
- Ability to work cohesively with a diverse workforce including multiple business units and individuals from varied beliefs, backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience and ability in dealing with a high volume workload, prioritizing/time management.
- Demonstrated experience in using a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook) and Adobe.

Work Schedule: The usual work week for this position is 40 hours per week (weekdays, approximately 8:00 a.m. [KM1] to 5:00 p.m.) Hours may vary based on business need, and may include some occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours. This position is eligible for overtime pay.
Work Location: This position is based at the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle.
