We are embarking on a journey to make "data-driven" business decisions in our pursuit of becoming the best run government. As part of a new IT service focused on data, we are looking for a Data Architect to provide technical direction and leadership to Law Safety and Justice (LSJ) data-oriented efforts. This position will mature data management techniques and processes in the LSJ data domain.

TEMPORARY TELECOMMUTING REQUIREMENT
The work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team. Work Schedule
The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.

- Analyze existing source data systems, and analytical requirements, to design and implement new data repositories
- Create and maintain various data architecture artifacts
- Leverage and guide a team of modelers, ETL developers and analytics developers
- Architect forward looking BI solutions - potentially assigning work to others and helping to mentor/grow skills throughout the team
- Coordinate efforts with other service teams to ensure quality data requirements, data structures, and data services are addressed as part of our solution development lifecycle
- Establish and maintain standards and guidelines for use by all within and outside the service team
- Plan and configure appropriate data processing workflows and schedules (real time, near-real, batch) to avoid bottlenecks and contention issues.
- Assist with data classification and establish appropriate security and data access requirements
- Architect solutions for both structured and semi-structured data
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Two years of experience in a senior technical role as a data architect working on enterprise data repositories
- Two years of experience acting as a lead for data analysis and modeling activities working with business customers
- Strong data modeling skills including conceptual, logical and physical in a wide variety of schemas and formats
- Knowledge and usage of BI Tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) including the data prepping and blending capabilities of each
- Demonstrated strong working relationships with DBA, ETL, and BI teams in developing and implementing new data warehouses, data marts, etc.
- Understanding of industry standards for data security and privacy
- Understanding for how to link and integrate data across domains and blending semi-structured and structured data
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, gaining their trust and respect
- Ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization with either technical and business orientations
