Summary

SPECIAL DUTY ASSIGNMENT
This position is open to King County Metro Transit Employees.  This recruitment will be used to create a pool for future SDA vacancies that occur during the next 12 months after the close of this recruitment process.
 
The Marketing and Service Information Unit of Metro has a special duty assignment available to assist with public information for the September 2020 Service Change. The period of the assignment will be approximately four months. The first day of work for this position will be July 13, 2020.  The general hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., subject to adjustment according to the demands of preparing for the service change.
 
Under the direction of a senior information specialist, this position will assist in the following areas:
Rider Alerts: Research, draft, produce and post bus stop Rider Alerts related to the service change.
Street Teams: Assist with the preparation of information packets, training team members and assisting the teams in the field.
Signage: Assist with the preparation and posting of transit service information at transit centers, bus stops and in the transit tunnel.
 
This work may require:

  • Working collaboratively with staff in the King Street Center office and in the field – this is not a telework assignment.
  • Driving Metro vehicles in heavy traffic and making frequent stops to post service information at bus zones and transit facilities.
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Using hand tools and basic mechanical knowledge.
 
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Metro's transit service area and transit routes.
  • Dependable, reliable and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word; knowledge of InDesign is desirable, but not required.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license is required.
