Medical Assistant- Pathways Clinic, Downtown Seattle
This Medical Assistant is a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team in Pathways, a program providing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and other medical services to vulnerable individuals with opioid use disorder, including those living unsheltered, recently released from incarceration, and with co-occurring severe mental illness. The incumbent works as a paraprofessional performing delegated patient care functions under the clinical direction of a Physician, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Registered Nurse and under the supervision of a site manager or Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS). This is a fast-paced position requiring exceptional customer care. This provider welcomes clients to our clinic, performs front desk clinic and client support duties, back-office rooming, point of care testing and initial assessments; provides health education and linkage to resources; and is expected to regularly adapt their role/tasks in order to maximize clinic efficiency and flow system. Additional duties are as assigned and can include immunizations, phlebotomy, medication administration, intramuscular, intradermal (including PPDs) and subcutaneous injections, data entry into tracking system, COVID Response. This position works in-person/onsite.

- Job Duties
- Utilize clinic practice management software to assist with scheduling, registering, and checking in patients for appointments
- Assist providers with patient care; and coordinate efficient clinic flow by promptly rooming patients.
- Accurately perform diagnostic screenings and procedures such as adult anthropometric measurements and Point of Care testing.
- As directed by a Physician and/or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, perform and process blood draws, administer medication and collect specimens.
- Monitor, request, stock and clean routine clinic supplies; maintain safety and cleanliness of examination/treatment rooms and laboratory areas. This may include some bending, lifting, reaching, stooping and moving objects weighing 35 pounds.
- Interview and accurately record client's medical, dietary, and social history, anthropometric and lab results and accurately enter patient information into health information tracking systems and chronic disease registries.
- As directed by a Physician and/or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, phone in prescriptions to pharmacies, schedule follow-up appointments and refer patients for specialty and/or follow-up care as needed.
- Attend training and respond to emergency situations within the clinic supporting health care providers and emergency personnel.
- Perform pre-visit planning activities, attend huddles
- Assist with procedures
- Administer vaccines, and single dose medications via the following routes: oral, subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular, intranasal.
- Perform phlebotomy
- Perform CLIA waived lab tests
- Properly donning and doffing PPE

Minimum Qualifications to Apply:
- Must have Medical Assistant Certification (C-MA) with Washington Department of Health in good standing
- Washington State Drivers' License or the ability to provide transportation to work.
- Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers
- Strong customer service and organization skills
- Bilingual and/or bicultural
- Lived experience with substance use and/or experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of vaccine administration
- Familiar with EPIC System
- Demonstrated ability to work in community settings with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of trauma-informed care and equity & social justice principles to clinical practice
- Willing to provide options counseling
- Strong Interpersonal communications skills
- Strong Oral and written communications skills
