Mobility Deputy Division Director
- King County Metro has an exciting opportunity for our next Mobility Deputy Division Director. This leadership role will contribute to improving processes, make data driven decisions, and implement innovative initiatives and transformational policy and practice ensuring the success of the division support. This senior leader will report directly to the Division Director, complementing the director and acting as second in command in the division. - Plan a mobility system that is fast, reliable, integrated, serves where needs are greatest and connects people to jobs and job centers, opportunities, and activities of daily living.
- Manage the delivery of services that complement Metro’s bus network and integrate all modes of transportation.
- Innovate services to improve mobility and complement transit with an emphasis on priority populations.
- Improve access to mobility options through up-to-date and accurate customer communications.
- Ensure customers can easily pay their fare and strive to ensure cost of transit is not a barrier to utilizing the region’s system of public transit options.
- Manage parking, bus stops, and other programs to increase access to transit.
- Support a high-performing workforce with growth opportunities and a culture of belonging and well-being.
- Job Duties

In this role you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. As the Deputy Director, you will:
Provide strategic partnership to Division Director
Align the operational functions of the Mobility Division to adapt to new service delivery models.
Coordinate the alignment of all new, innovative mobility pilot programs and services along with current contracted services across the Division.
Facilitate and direct the development and review of operational performance metrics to ensure the division meets its goals.
Provide oversight of the Mobility Division budget to organize and leverage resources to deliver programs and services, and to support technology planning.
Implement strategic direction to support planning, process improvement, new policies and initiatives to move the division forward in alignment with Metro's vision and strategic goals.
Work with a variety of stakeholders including internal Metro staff, elected officials, law enforcement, other governmental agencies, transit customers, and the broader community to maintain and improve Metro's operational capacity and ability to deliver to the highest possible level.
Build leadership teams, foster a positive environment in diverse work situations, create strong morale, instill vision and purpose, and encourage open dialogue.
Support the development of new systems for the division to improve business processes and to streamline decision making.
Partner with unions to resolve problems and address labor-management issues in a collaborative manner.

We are looking for candidates who have :
Proven experience as a leader of operational functions and adaptation of products and/or services to meet customers' needs.
Financial acumen with an emphasis on developing and managing operating budgets.
Demonstrable aptitude in implementing successful new service contracts.
Ability to differentiate lines of business in order to deliver services and products within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Experience in continuously improving efficiency according to organizational objectives and strategic goals.
Proven ability to lead a workforce through change, demonstrating transparency and building trust, without necessarily having direct authority.
Excellent track-record of developing strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners/vendors.
Knowledge of gathering, analyzing, and interpreting operational performance data and metrics.
Ability as a leader to facilitate difficult conversations (particularly related to race and other protected classes, power, and privilege), and create a culture of mutual accountability.
Strongly desired qualifications include:
High-level management experience in operations and/or service delivery
Expertise and knowledge about managing operations to conform with established labor regulations.
Demonstrable ability to lead the delivery of smooth operations through political and organizational changes.
Experience with providing oversight through the innovation and testing of new mobility service delivery models.

The primary location of this position is in King Street Center (201 S. Jackson, Seattle, WA )
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
