The Department of Natural Resources and Parks has an outstanding opportunity for a creative visual storyteller to show the public how our staff is protecting and restoring the natural environment for the people, fish, and wildlife of King County.
We’re searching for a talented videographer who will establish our agency as the industry leader in exceptional video content. They will illustrate how we produce climate solutions, conserve open space, protect water quality, restore habitat, and promote equitable access to the outdoors – and how our work contributes to a more resilient, sustainable, equitable community where all people can thrive. They will capitalize on the latest advancements in editing software – including motion graphics – to enhance the quality of our videos.
Our Public Affairs team offers the creative space, resources, gear, and opportunities that talented communication professionals need to tell inspiring stories. We want a trusted videographer who can capitalize on the compelling visuals that our work offers. Our 1,800 staff members are restoring salmon habitat, building and operating major infrastructure that protects Puget Sound marine life, transforming waste management to reduce carbon emissions, and expanding and enhancing regional parks and trails.

- Produce compelling, high-quality explainer videos – using the latest motion graphics software – to build public understanding, trust, and support for our agency’s work and initiatives.
- Create other social media and web-based content using contemporary software – including Canva and Adobe Essential Graphics – that help internal and external audiences understand and connect to our work.
- Quickly produce post-event highlight videos that provide concise, inclusive, and clear summaries of press conferences, celebrations, and milestones.
- Provide technical expertise and training to Division communication leads to build their video skillset.
- Manage the agency’s P/A system and stagecraft for events.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- 5 years professional experience producing video content as a freelancer, staff videographer, or journalist.
- Expert in contemporary non-linear editing software, specifically Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to research, storyboard, shoot, and edit high-quality explainer videos.
- Ability to use motion graphics to enhance videos and other digital content.
- Ability to quickly produce post-event highlight videos.
- Ability to use a professional-grade video and photography equipment, including DSLR and light kit.
- Licensed to operate a drone
- Ability to produce high-quality digital photo galleries
- Ability to manage a video library

Telecommuting and King Street Center
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employee will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.
Work Location: Primarily teleworking and the King Street Center 201 S. Jackson St., Seattle WA 98104. There will be an expectation to travel to various worksites throughout King and South Snohomish County as needed for your work
Work Schedule: This position is non-exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Monday through Friday.
