Summary

The Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) seeks an Investigations Analyst to conduct independent investigations into allegations of misconduct by the King County Sheriff's Office, as well as monitor and review King County Sheriff's Office internal investigations to ensure they are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and procedures.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
The ideal candidate will have a passion for and understanding of police accountability, working knowledge of issues related to police practices, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and judgment.
A bachelor's degree in public safety, criminal justice, auditing, or related field AND 3 years' experience in investigative work, interviewing, litigation, or similar field is required; a master's degree in criminal justice, related field, or JD is preferred.
Experience in IAPro or other similar investigative case management systems is preferred.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is open to all qualified applicants. Acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States are required by federal immigration law.
This position is a salaried, at-will, overtime-exempt classification that is not eligible for the county Career Service system. The standard workweek is 35 hours. Non-traditional work hours and travel throughout King County may occasionally be required.

- Analyze Sheriff's Office internal investigations to assess compliance with protocols.
- Attend investigation interviews, including outside of regular work hours, and discuss investigative steps and strategy with King County Sheriff's Office or independent investigators as needed.
- Prepare written reports analyzing investigations, documenting investigative steps, and presenting findings.
- Perform complaint intake.
- Attend the scene of critical incidents, including outside of regular work hours, as needed.
- Act with integrity and uphold principles of due process and fairness.
