Summary
**This position is open to current career service employees within the Parks and Recreation Division of King County's Department Natural Resources and Parks only.
The Parks Operation Section has an exciting promotional opportunity for Park Specialist III positions. This recruitment will be used to fill newly budgeted career service roles and at least one 24-month Special Duty Assignment. This is a great opportunity to expand your skillset in areas of leadership development, technical skills, and project management!
The Park Specialist III position will coordinate the work of assigned park crew members and perform lead duties for each team including training, coaching, and monitoring workflow in addition to performing the full range of duties for the Parks Specialist II. This role will work across all Operations work units to support standardizing and streamlining processes to ensure a consistent experience for staff, parks users, and customers. This position will be tasked with analyzing current practices, coordinating with work teams and/or creating focus groups for feedback, developing standard operating procedures, providing training, and making implementation recommendations for the future.

This position will be tasked with analyzing current practices, coordinating with work teams and/or creating focus groups for feedback, developing standard operating procedures, providing training, and making implementation recommendations for the future.
Job Duties
What you'll be doing:
- Assist in workload planning, prioritizing, and assigning program work schedules.
- Lead, coordinate, and work with teams in assigned duties; resolve issues; and oversee and monitor project quality. Develop and provide standardized processes and training. Coordinate with PDMCs, archaeologist and other staff to develop work program specifics and logistics; adjust as needed during implementation.
- Develop standard operating procedures and provide training around work tasks, personal protective equipment (PPE) and work equipment. Coordinate training for special topics with other training providers.
- Provide feedback to management regarding performance and work deliverables.
- Develop reports, apply for and obtain permits, assist with timesheet approvals, and facilitate work orders through Lucity Asset Management System.
- Investigate and resolve public complaints and inquiries; escalate if necessary.
- Serve as a backup for coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- At least three years of full-time park maintenance work experience or similar general maintenance experience requiring independent responsibility for completion of work assignments. The candidate will also have:
- Knowledge of and experience in parks maintenance operations and procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers and supervisors.
- Skill in communicating clearly and respectfully, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and to handle difficult situations.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to prioritize work tasks.

Working Conditions:
- Work Location: work location varies depending on assigned work crew.
- Work Hours: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week.
- FLSA Status: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is represented by Service Employees International Union, Local 925.
