We have an exciting opportunity for a Partnerships & Engagement Manager (Project/Program Manager III) to join the Community Investments and Engagement team with King County Parks and play a vital role in bridging the gap between our organization and the diverse communities of King County. As a Partnerships & Engagement Manager, you will serve as a crucial conduit between King County Parks and the local communities, spearheading engagement and outreach initiatives for projects, programs, and efforts focused on advancing park equity and access.
The Community Investments and Engagement team is dedicated to creating welcoming, safe spaces for all people to experience the outdoors through compelling storytelling, innovative community grants programs, and thoughtful relationship-building and conversations with diverse members of the public. We collaborate with community-based organizations to better support and develop our park system in a way that reflects the range of needs and experiences of the community members who utilize our parks.

Working Conditions:
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly through of telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations . King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.

Job Duties
- Serve as the project manager for equity and access-focused Parks engagement and outreach efforts.
- Serve as a conduit between internal King County stakeholders and external community-based stakeholders.
- Build and maintain new and existing partnerships with community-based organizations and constituents.
- Manage project budgets, contracts, and translation with community-based organizations and/or consultants.
- Work with communications and creative team members to create content and shepherd project deliverables to completion.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated, progressive experience in project management and community partnership-building experience focused on equity and social justice.
- Experience in partnership-building among a variety of internal and external stakeholders, community engagement, and community outreach.
- Experience in working to reach diverse communities and populations through targeted communications.
- Highly skilled in planning, time management, and organizational tasks with a detail-oriented and process-focused approach.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Strong leadership skills in coordinating diverse teams to develop strategies, processes, documents, and engagement plans. Ability to coordinate details across multiple stakeholders, ensuring successful delivery of project outcomes.
- Flexible, creative, and productive in the face of change, ambiguity, delays, and tight timelines.
- Experience with project management and collaboration technology (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox, and Trello).
- Customer Focus: Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
- Balances Stakeholders: Anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Organizational Savvy: Maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.
- Communicates Effectively: Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
- Plans and Aligns: Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
- Optimizes Work Processes: Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done.
- Tech Savvy: Anticipating and adopting innovations in business building digital and technology applications.
- 2 years of project management experience and community partnership-building experience focused on equity and social justice, with experience in equitable access to nature.
- Self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the ability to relate to and build rapport with people from all walks of life.
- Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Somali, Russian, Korean, Ukrainian, Tagalog, Amharic, or Arabic.
- Strong writing and communications background.
- Experience managing contracts and/or budgets within a large public agency.
Working Conditions:
- Work Location: This position is a hybrid role and is performed predominantly through telecommuting with occasional on-site work at the King Street Center, 201 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98014. There may also be occasional community meetings located at various sites throughout King County.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week, typically Monday to Friday. This position will occasionally require night and/or weekend work for meetings and activities.
- FLSA Status: This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
- Necessary Special Requirements: A current Washington Driver License (or ability to obtain one upon hire), or alternative ability to travel in a timely manner to various locations including to sites which may not be served by public transportation.
