- King County District Court ProfileKCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services. Twelve cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.
Position SummaryThe Payment Center Manager manages and oversees the court-wide financial processing function for King County District Court including accounts payable, accounts receivable and associated auditing activities, engaging with partners throughout the Court. Our ideal candidate will be skilled in aligning services and expertise in support of continuous quality and process improvement and developing and executing upon long-range plans. The Payment Center Manager operates as both a collaborative strategist and a tactician with a strong focus on problem solving and excellent customer service. - Job Duties
- Provides formal supervision to Payment Center Coordinator(s) and Fiscal Specialists including hiring, development, engagement, workload distribution, performance management and conflict resolution.
- Responds to accounting questions from Payment Center staff, eight location managers and coordinators, upper management, judges, and escalated customer service phone calls.
- Administers the collection contract(s) meeting regularly and communicating with collection vendor(s) for contract compliance, performance metrics, contract expectations and training needs.
- Participates in policy development for new legislation and court programs. Writes and updates procedures, educates court employees on changes.
- Serves as a liaison with external and internal customers, including, but not limited to collections and credit card vendors, state auditors, and bank representatives. Attends and facilitates meetings.
- Implement and effectively communicate audit procedures and reports.
- Oversees access to the court’s credit card system for all court users preforming monthly audits of credit card transactions.
- Oversees till group management within the case management system of all court users.
- Assists in completing various reconciliation, remittance and financial functions.
- Assists and develops new projects and serves on committees as required.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the job.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in a similar accounting and/or finance position, including planning, delegating, and coordinating work.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws pertaining to the operation of the Court.
- Knowledge of cash handling processes and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to build teams through employee engagement, performances management, development.
- Ability to develop and deliver data-heavy reports to internal and external audiences
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflict at the lowest level in a high-stress environment.
- Ability to work with diverse workgroups and individuals, both internally and externally including angry or upset people.

- Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
