Pharmacist Covid-19 Vaccination Program
- Summary
To contain COVID-19 and fully re-open the region, Public Health -- Seattle & King County estimates that it will be necessary to vaccinate at least 70 percent of all adults, or approximately 1.26 million people. To help achieve this goal, there is an urgent need to create and expand COVID-19 vaccination capacity across South King County and other areas of need in King County
We are looking to fill TWO pharmacist positions to work in the Community Health Services Vaccine Program for up to nine months to support the operations of our Covid-19 Vaccination Program.
High-volume Covid-19 vaccination sites are opening across the country, and right here in King County, as an effective method for accelerating community vaccination. Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is collaborating with a variety of King County Divisions and local area organizations to ensure a sufficient number of high-volume vaccination sites are in operation, particularly in areas of need like South King County. These sites are expected to be open six (6) days per week and to operate at least eight (8) hours per day, with the possibility to extend these hours/days of operation depending on demand and vaccine availability.

- Lead the teams of vaccine prep staffs, vaccinators, clinicians and other disciplines working at the high-volume vaccination site
- Monitor team and facility schedules to assess and project vaccine supply needed for operations
- Maintain inventory control including purchasing, receiving and placing in stock vaccine and other related supplies.
- Oversee proper receipt and storage of vaccine deliveries
- Organize and label vaccines within storage units
- Document vaccine inventory information in IIS, Vaccine Finder, etc.
- Restock supplies for vaccination teams
- Defrost appropriate vaccine quantities and prepare transport coolers according to manufacturer guidelines
- Oversee proper vaccine transport
- Ensure set-up of temperature data loggers and download daily data logger reports (for fixed/overnight vaccine storage units and day-use coolers)
- Ensure staff handling and/or transporting vaccine are properly trained
- Serve as a resource for field clinical teams regarding vaccine handling
- Read and manually record storage unit temps a minimum of two times each workday
- Respond to out-of-range temperatures (temp excursion)
- Maintain all documentation, such as inventory and temperature logs
- Monitor operation of storage equipment and systems
- Ensure appropriate handling of vaccines during disaster or power outage
- As needed, transport vaccine to the other mass vaccination sites and perform hourly monitoring and other vaccine handling and tracking tasks.
- Perform data entry and data system management related to vaccine administration
- Provide immunization when under direct supervision of a pharmacist or other licensed vaccinator
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Knowledge of vaccine storage and handling principles
- Knowledge of the legal requirements of a Pharmacist
- Knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures
- Skill in basic mathematics calculations
- Skill in organization and time management
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Skill in working in a team environment
- Skill in data entry and Microsoft 365 environment (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Washington State Driver’s License is required.
- Pharmacist License
- Healthcare BLS/CPR Certification at time of hire.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is overtime eligible.
Vaccine Handling and Support for Covid-19 High-Volume Vaccination teams and sites may be needed up to Monday – Sunday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Fixed schedules can be negotiated and may include 12 hour shifts 3 times per week or 8 hour shifts, 5 days per week.
Pharmacists will be responsible to prepare vaccines for daily operations on-site. They will also work with teams to share daily inventory reports in coordination with appointment staffs. Applicants who prefer to work less than 1.0 FTE and work only mornings or only evenings are also welcomed to apply.
DURATION OF POSITION:
Public Health is anticipating that this work will continue through October 31, 2021. However, the end date of this position may be adjusted based on funding and program need. This position is eligible for benefits.
