Summary
Jail Health Services, a division of Public Health Seattle & King County, is recruiting for one full time, Career Service, Pharmacy Technician to work in the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle.
Currently, we are recruiting for one full time Career Service position. In addition, applicants from this recruitment may be used to create a list of qualified candidates for future career service, term limited temporary, and special duty assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in the next 6 months in this program.
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist by processing prescriptions, maintaining patient profiles, filling orders, ordering medications, maintaining pharmaceutical inventory, and assuring that the pharmacy program is in compliance with all relevant state and federal rules and regulations. This position operates under the direct oversight and control of a licensed pharmacist.

Work Schedule:
The schedules are determined by the Pharmacy Supervisors, based on need, current inmate population. The work hours will be 40 hours per week. This role will require you to work every weekend. Thursday - Monday: 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Job Duties
Include but are not limited to:
- Process prescriptions and maintain patient profiles in pharmacy computer system.
- Accurately interpret prescriptions including drug name, strength, directions, dosage forms and generic equivalents.
- Re-package and label prescribed medications.
- Maintain inventory control including purchasing, receiving and placing in stock all drug and pharmacy supplies.
- Update and maintain effective drug inventories based on use or projected use.
- Deliver drug orders and re-stock appropriate drug storage locations throughout Jail Health Services.
- Maintain security measures to properly safeguard drug inventory.
- Maintain and monitor records for returns and outdated drugs from throughout the facility and return outdated merchandise and recalled drugs to manufacturer.
- Deliver medications to inmates
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legal requirements of a Pharmacy Technician.
- Must possess a Washington State Pharmacy Technician License by time of hire.
- BLS (for providers); able to obtain before hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge of drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalents and storage requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with pharmacy software.
- Basic mathematics calculation skills.
- Organization skills.
- Time management skills.
- Demonstrated communication (oral and written) skills.
- Demonstrated skill in working in a team environment.
- Demonstrated skill in data entry, personal computers, and Microsoft Office programs Word, Outlook, and Excel.
