Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. ( See Working Conditions/Work Location information above. )
Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations . - Support in the implementation process of a new event online registration system.
- Supporting a lead staff during volunteer events and youth programming.
- Supporting purchasing, organization and maintenance of our tools and event materials.

Job Duties
- Support environmental service-learning projects with volunteers of all ages a second staff alongside Volunteer Coordinator or another Parks staff to ensure safe staff to volunteer ratio and support tasks like plant and tool staging in preparation for events as needed.
- Support general programmatic administrative tasks, including responding to new inquiries and developing processes for efficient and effective communications with volunteers.
- Support the transition and organization of online documents into new online storage systems.
- Support administrative and logistical tasks related to the Youth Conservation Corps. This includes in-field support working alongside Parks staff on program days with teens and behind-the scenes support through outreach and administrative tasks.
- Support administrative and logistical tasks related to implementation of the new Volunteer Management Software. Including keeping event information up to date and gathering metrics from site.
- Support logistical needs - New Swag development and ordering, tool sharpening, organizing, inventory and purchasing.
- Support program outreach through attending tabling events, creating, and distributing materials that can endure after term ends.
- Work Location: Work will be hybrid. Administrative, planning work and some meetings will be conducted remotely. Field work and in-person internal and external meetings will require travel to sites throughout King County. Two to three days per week may be working outdoors in parks, either supporting a volunteer event or preparing onsite for one. There are several drop-in office spaces available for work if needed.
- Work Schedule: T his position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week, Tuesday - Saturday, 6:30 am-3:00 pm, with some occasional nights and/or weekends as needed. Option for 4/10's Wednesday through Saturday 6:00 am-4:30 pm is available for discussion.
- Union Representation: This position is non-represented.
- Familiarity and/or experience with outdoor environmental service-learning programming and comfort working outdoors in all seasons. Enthusiasm for full scope of work to support Volunteer Program and willingness to grow. Knowledge of resources and research methods for growing knowledge in environmental restoration.
- Foundational awareness of equity and social justice concepts and beginning understanding on centering equity in actions and decisions. Desire to deepen knowledge and skills in equitable actions.
- Basic quantitative skills to support program process improvements and contribute to high-quality service-learning programming.
- Written and oral communications skills to respond to programmatic inquiries and contribute to outreach and publicity materials.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for supporting logistical needs of program.
- Skills in gathering, manipulating, and using data utilizing a computer and other tools to support post-event data collection and understanding of program metrics.
- Skill in working as an effective team member to accomplish shared goals along with skill in completing tasks independently.
- Professional experience supporting and/or leading environmental service-learning activities and volunteer events.
- Familiarity of environmental restoration practices and plant identification.
- Basic knowledge in non-motorized tool maintenance - sharpening shovels, hand-tillers, loppers and pruners.
- Basic knowledge of online event registration systems or databases.
- A valid driver's license at the time of appointment is required and comfort driving throughout King County.
- Current CPR and First Aid training, or ability to obtain with 60 days of hire.
- Work includes indoor and outdoor settings. May be exposed to drafts, pollens, inclement weather, and uneven surfaces.
- Requires occasional lifting and carrying supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Requires stooping, standing, sitting or walking depending on nature of program or event.
