This position is responsible for the supervision and clinical leadership of PHSKC’s overdose prevention programs. This is a position that works within an interdisciplinary team and serves as an educator, consultant, practitioner, thought leader, convener and supervisor to address overdose prevention throughout the Health Department and throughout the community. The position reports to the Strategic Advisor / Regional Health Administrator on behavioral health and overdose prevention.This posting will open until filled with the first review off applicants to take place on November 18, 2022

Who May Apply:This full-time position is open to all qualified applicants.Work Schedule:8 AM – 5 PM Mon-Fri with occasional after hours work as needed to meet operational needs.
The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. - Job Duties
- In conjunction with team members and the Regional Health Administrator, manage the day-to-day operations of the Public Health Seattle and King County Overdose Prevention Team in conjunction with team members.
- Supervise multiple team members, which may include students and interns, that work in the area of overdose prevention and improving the health of individuals who use drugs.
- Identify gaps and opportunities to address overdose prevention and better care for individuals who use substances.
- Represent the Overdose Prevention work unit in internal and external meetings.
- Organize staffing needs to best address the work of the Overdose Prevention Team.
- Work with Regional Health Administrator to set strategic priorities for the workgroup.
- Project manage multiple high visibility projects including but not limited to grant implementation, local and State funding, and other community-based projects.
- Provide backup for Regional Health Administrator in meetings as needed.
- Represent the workgroup in Division Operational Managers meetings as requested.
- Convene stakeholders across different disciplines to identify community-based needs.
- Grant and technical writing.
- Work with evaluation, epidemiology, and surveillance staff to improve knowledge of current drug trends and best practices.
- Develop and present to community groups, internal and external stakeholders, and elected officials on the work of the overdose prevention team.
- Provide consistent and high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.

- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Five (5) plus years of experience providing direct service in multiple modalities to individuals with substance use disorder.
- Five (5) plus years of increasing responsibility supervising staff.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Previous experience tracking deliverables and reporting to funders. Including oversight of federal grants.
- Previous training experience with naloxone, naloxone protocols and evidence-based practices in overdose prevention.
- Knowledge of drug supply and potential poisons and contaminants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medications to treat OUD.
- Previous experience in working to eliminate disparities in marginalized populations.
- Ability to project management teams of individuals across different work units.
- Previous experience working with behavioral health or primary care agencies.
