Public Health Nurse- Mobile Isolation and Quarantine (Short Term Temp.)
- Summary
Public Health – Seattle and King County (PHSKC) is creating a Mobile IQ Team and seeking a Public Health Nurse (PHN) to provide isolation and quarantine care for some of our most vulnerable residents in King County. PHSKC is partnering with select Adult Family Homes (AFH) to provide this service; as well as utilizing various King County hotels. Isolation and Quarantine (I&Q) sites are a proven public health practice to mitigate spread of COVID within the community.
Our clients will be confirmed COVID positive, or presumed positives; and will range from asymptomatic and symptomatic. Many of our clients will be unsheltered or living homeless. The PHN(s) will work with a small team to provide care coordination and nurse triage. Mobile IQ team members will work in-person with confirmed COVID positive clients but will be based in a work from home/telecommute/remote location.

- Job Duties
- Provide case management
- Triage COVID related and non-COVID related acute medical concerns in-person and by telephone (utilizing urgent care, primary care and ERs appropriately)
- Provide patient education – often around infection control and symptom management
- Travel to various IQ sites including two Adult Family Homes (AFHs) and multiple hotels in King County
- Provide consultation to AFH caregivers regarding care for our clients and infection control
- Support caregivers and clients, and provide education, around harm reduction strategies
- Help connect clients to other resources such as housing, primary care, and substance use support
- Partner with the small Mobile IQ Team which will include 2 PHNs as well as Behavioral Health staff
- Monitor symptoms and provide wellness checks for our clients, including some families
- Participate in the creation of policies, workflows, and other tools/materials
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Desired Skills, Abilities and/or Attributes:
- Experience working with vulnerable populations (unsheltered, substance use, behavioral health concerns)
- Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and trauma-informed care (TIC)
- Previous case management experience
- Ability to work independently
- Bilingual and/or Bicultural
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse License in good standing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Proof of current BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers (Attach if current)
- Washington State Driver’s License of ability to travel within designated territory.
This is a Short Term Temporary (STT) position that will work 0-40 hours per week, providing coverage for staff paid time off. Must be available for weekend coverage. Shifts are 10 hours, 8am-630pm.
Work Location:
This position will involve working from home (remote/telecommute) and working in various I&Q sites throughout King County. Must be able to travel from different sites during the shift.

Part of the work associated with this position will be performed through remote telework with reporting to office location and field work at I&Q sites. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations.
