Summary

To contain COVID-19 and fully re-open the region, there is an urgent need to expand mobile vaccination capacity across South King County and other areas of need in King County.

We are looking to fill multiple Mobile Vaccination Registered Nurse positions in the Community Health Services Division to conduct mobile vaccination events to reach high-risk individuals who cannot leave their homes or facilities or face other barriers to making appointments and presenting at a clinic or high-volume site to offer COVID-19, Hepatitis A, and/or flu vaccines.

This position is based in the Chinook Building in Downtown Seattle; however, the majority of the time will be spent in mobile vaccination events in settings such as adult family homes, senior living facilities, homeless service sites, day centers, and correctional facilities throughout King County. This is a term limited temporary (TLT) or Special Duty position.  This position will report to the Mobile Vaccination Personal Health Services Supervisor in the Community Health Services Division of Public Health. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Lead on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinics with a focus on vaccinating vulnerable populations.

  • Lead immunization clinic operations staffed by Public Health staff, agency staff, and other volunteers.
  • Travel to immunization clinics, transport vaccine and other supplies, and set-up/break-down equipment.
  • Maintain immunization clinic supplies and ensure appropriate storage and handling of vaccines.
  • Screen for and administer vaccines at (small-scale) community immunization clinics.
  • Ensure adequate documentation of vaccinations/medications administered, and review patient immunization histories.
  • Provide situational health education and referrals/linkages to medical/specialty care.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners such as service providers 
  • Participate in standardized evaluations of on-site clinic operations and overall vaccination strategy to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Provide programmatic input and technical assistance for mobile vaccination strategy
  • Engage with organizations as needed to encourage vaccination.
  • Ensure equity concerns are addressed to minimize barriers to vaccine accessibility. 
  • Develop, update and maintain COVID-19 mobile vaccination policies, procedures, and other documentation. 
  • Refine the operating guide and staffing model tailored to different populations and settings
  • Participate in Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks 
  • Participate in other outbreak response activities as assigned, including possible assignment to mass vaccination sites.
  • Participate in other outbreak response activities as assigned, including possible assignment to COVID testing, education, and infection control and prevention.

 

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of vaccine preventable diseases and immunizations, public health nursing principles and processes, and infectious disease management and control.
  • Demonstrated experience administering vaccines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention/de-escalation with high-risk and special needs populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information at all times. 
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisor, co-workers, healthcare providers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation and clinical support to health care providers and the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in community settings without on-site supervision with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations.
  • Fluency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word and Excel, Sharepoint,Teams) 
  • Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations with limited or no public transportation services is required.

 

Licensing/Certification Requirements: 

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing science from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers
  • Washington State driver's license or ability to travel within Seattle-King County
  • Willing to provide options counseling

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and familiarity with homeless services and affordable housing in King County
  • Training in or knowledge of harm reduction, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, and street-based outreach
  • Two years clinical experience (inpatient or outpatient)
  • Master's degree in public health or related field
  • Bilingual and/or Bicultural

WORK SCHEDULE:  These positions are fully benefited 1.0 FTE and are overtime eligible. Typical workweek is Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. with variable and flexible hours to ensure supervisory coverage and stable staffing. Some evening and weekend hours may be required with differentials for evenings. May also work outside of assigned shift and/or location in order to meet operational needs.
