Rail Facilities Custodian
King County Metro Rail Facilities is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Rail Facility Custodian to be a contributing member of the Rail Facilities Management team. In this role you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks and general labor tasks to create and maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment for our Metro Transit staff and the general public. This posting will fill more than one current career service vacancy and may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future career service/and or long-term temporary vacancies (TLTs) or SDA’s, that may occur over the next twelve months at the hiring manager's discretion.

Link Light Rail
Metro Transit's Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Link Light Rail service on a 20 plus mile route from the Angle Lake Station south of Sea-Tac Airport to Northgate station in North Seattle. Plans and/or construction are underway extending the system to the north, east, south, and west. Expansion over the next five years alone will include the addition of more than 20 stations and 40 miles of light rail track. The light rail line is a critical part of the region's transportation network and carries more than 79,000 daily weekday riders.

Who May Apply: Who May Apply: This recruitment is open to all qualified applicants internal and external and will be used to fill current career service vacancies at Rail and may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future career service and/or temporary vacancies that may occur over the next twelve months.
Work Schedule: This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Employees must be able to work one of three shifts (day, swing, or graveyard (shifts that work through the night). Work schedule may include non- standard work hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Schedules are based on a seniority "pick" system and potentially can change every 6 months based on seniority. Per the union contract shift differential is paid to those working second and third shifts. Shift pay is 5% for second shift and 7.5% for third shift, on top of hourly pay. The normal workweek is five 8-hour shifts per week, with two consecutive days off, but not necessarily weekends off. This is considered to be an essential position and is required to report to work during adverse weather and/or other urgent/emergency needs.
Current hourly starting rates are: Day shift: $19.69, 2nd shift (swing): $20.67, 3rd shift (night shifts): $21.17
Employees may report to any of the following locations: Operations and Maintenance Facility Central at 3407 Airport Way S, Seattle, our satellite office in the International District Chinatown (IDS), or our new Eastside campus Operations and Maintenance Facility Central at 1925 120th Ave NE Bellevue, or any other locations that may be added or changed in the future.

- Job Duties

- Knowledge and skill in the proper use and disposal of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
- Ability to use and understand basic computer software
- Basic oral and written communication skills including the ability to understand and follow directions in English and fill out basic reports via a computer.
- Skill in reading, following and safely handling cleaning supplies per manufacturer's instructions.
