Registered Nurse COVID-19 Response - Strike Teams and Recovery Centers

As King County continues to take an aggressive approach to fighting the effects of COVID-19, we are asking for your help. There is a significant need for additional staffing assistance at the isolation/quarantine sites.
Please note: This is a role that may have contact with symptomatic/COVID positive clients.
Work location: Various congregate setting around King County.
Summary:
Shelter Assessor and Infection Prevention Educator (Strike Team):- Gather shelter demographics.
- Assess social distancing including bed maps and other use of congregate areas.
- Assess PPE availability and needs.
- Assess masking and isolation practices.
- Review service site turnover.
- Assess service exit and entry policies.
- Identify areas for improvement.
- Provide infection prevention and control guidance.
Clinical Site Assessor (Strike Team):- Provide symptom monitoring.
- Provide guidance on when to seek care.
- Assess the number of clinical residents and staff and the level of illness.
- Assess for need for hospitalization.
- Assess for isolation needs.
COVID Recovery Centers: Isolation & Quarantine (I&Q) and Assessment Center / Recovery Center (ACRC)- Provide medical assessment and monitoring of patients. This includes intake assessments, monitoring patient's health, support psychosocial stability, and complete discharge activities. Low level nursing care may be provided.
- Patients' status will range from asymptomatic to symptomatic and may need to consider underlying health conditions in assessment and monitoring. Depending on the severity of symptoms and behavioral health support, rounding may be less or more frequent and completed by phone or in-person with PPE.
- As needed over the counter fever reducing medications may be provided to patients. Any pre-existing medications patients are prescribed will be self-directed by the client and not under nurse management. However, nurse may assist client to get prescriptions refilled if needed during their stay.
- Position will review Patient Code of Conduct at the site and schedule for meals. Position will also distribute meals and support coordination of services and supports for the patient while housed at the site, such as supporting patient to refilling prescriptions as needed.
- Position will gown with appropriate PPE to respond to life threatening events or when patient is not responsive to phone or in-person check in. 911 and police will be called as needed.
- Consult and support is available with the On-site or On-Call Supervisor and/or the Medical Director as needed.

Required Qualifications and Licensing:- Registered nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Knowledge of disease surveillance and investigation
- Ability to work under pressure and carry out assignment and responsibilities in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
- Ability to work in community settings without on-site supervision with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations
- Washington State Drivers' License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations may be required.
Note: Strike Team nurses must be willing to commit to 3 days a week of service.

- Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office 365) and other web-enabled tools. Candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform essential functions of the position.

- The selected candidate will be required to pass a thorough background investigation.
- Employees are required to protect the privacy and security of protected health information as defined in State and Federal Law.
- Employees are required to adhere to OSHA/WISHA guidelines including but not limited to completing their mandatory trainings on time.
- May be deployed to other sections as needed to support operational needs.
