Registered Nurse (RN) – Community Health Services, Float Pool; TLT 1.0 FTE. This Registered Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across Public Health’s ambulatory care clinics and COVID Care Facilities.
Interviews for these positions will be held on September 24, 2020.

Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour work week, hours and days vary depending on clinic assignment. These positions are overtime eligible and any other bargained differentials. May include weekends, holidays and night shift.
Work Location: This is a float pool position and as such work location will vary depending upon need. Public Health – Community Health Services delivers care across King County. Work location may include Kent PHC, Kent I&Q, Federal Way PHC, Auburn PHC, Navos in Burien, Eastgate PHC, Issaquah I&Q, Downtown PHC, Aurora I&Q

- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Completion of training from an accredited school of nursing
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification
- Current Washington State Driver's License or ability to travel to various Public Health Seattle-King County locations.
Desirable Qualifications:- Minimum 2 years Ambulatory Care nursing preferred
- Experience working with multiple age groups and working with high risk populations impacted by substance abuse, mental illness and homelessness
- Experience with EPIC
- Bilingual/Bicultural
Example of Nursing Duties (may include but not limited to):- Conducts nursing assessments and interventions, patient care planning, evaluation and medical care coordination.
- Carries out prescribed treatments, administers medications and vaccinations, monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
- Conducts medical, dental and psychiatric screening and triage with patients over the phone and in person.
- Obtains and documents health history, chief complaint, vital signs, growth monitoring data, assessment data, and developmental screening data.
- Refers to or consults with other health providers.
- Follows established Public Health medical records policies and procedures and the State and Federal laws that govern the release of health care information.
- Establishes relationships with individuals or families to promote interactive problem solving and provide patient education.
- Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act.
- Participates and assists in the training and orientation of health care professional students and new employees.
- Establishes and maintains tracking of data for acute and chronic illness management.
- Provides for clinic maintenance of supplies and equipment; maintains a safe environment according to standards of (OSHA/WISHA).
- Provides patient care based upon these practice guidelines, community standards of care, and Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Maintains professional competence by pursuing opportunities for continuous learning, attending continuing education offerings, reading professional literature, and engaging in other activities which develop new knowledge and skills.
- Donning and Doffing PPE under strict protocol
- Care for patients recovering from COVID in Isolation/Quarantine
Nursing Qualifications:- Knowledge of nursing principles and processes; human systems; infectious disease management and control; health care system structure and function.
- Knowledge of adult learning and health education techniques and principles.
- Knowledge of personal safety standards, safety techniques and principles.
- Demonstrated abilities performing comprehensive nursing assessments and successfully engaging clients in a plan of care.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families and with other health and human services staff; developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients; and working with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability providing reproductive health education, services, community outreach, and working with community partners and agencies.
- Willing to provide options counseling.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability completing medical record documentation, problem-solving and case management.
- Skilled in motivational interviewing.
- Able to provide care through a lens of harm reduction, trauma informed care and equity & social justice.
- Understands institutional and systemic barriers to services.
- Knowledge of human systems (wellness, illness, growth and development, human behavior, psychosocial development, family and community systems) and alternative health care treatments.
- Knowledge of prescribed treatments and medical interventions, ability to monitor and document patient's treatment progress and response, refer to providers when indicated.
- Knowledge of Washington State law (WAC 18.79) relating to nursing care, federal health care regulations, Nurse Practice guidelines, Patient Bill of Rights, clinical practice guidelines for patient care, and understands community standards.
- Knowledge of chart documentation requirements, medical record forms, State and Federal laws that govern release of health care information, patient consent.
- May require electronic charting. Knowledge of health care technology, equipment, supplies and materials needed for medical treatment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities and teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability working in a fast paced environment independently, multi-tasking, demonstrating attention to detail, crisis intervention and problem solving skills and effective time management.
Special Requirements:- The selected candidate will be required to pass a thorough background investigation.
