What You'll Be Doing:
Work Schedule: This position works a 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, with optional flex schedule and ability to influence schedule during business hours. This position is not overtime eligible.

What to Expect as a Successful Employee
As a safety professional, your expertise will be applied to identify and address gaps and advance the safety program and culture.
- In 3 months, will be familiar with the solid waste system, sites, staff and safety program, with a draft 12 month workplan.
- In 6 months, will be integrated into team, meetings and technology, and accomplishing established milestones from workplan.
- In 12 months progress or completion of workplan tasks will be realized and the workplan for the next 12 months established.
There is a career service position. Training and professional development are available for this role, and King County has a variety of growth opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Plan, develop, implement, and monitor division-wide safety programs and projects.
- Provide health and safety technical support to all levels of staff to achieve and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Safety training recommendation, development, coordination, and delivery.
- Incident investigation and review, including safety committee coordination and corrective action recommendations.
- Development and ongoing implementation, training, and maintenance of safety management system.
- At least three (3) years of occupational safety and health experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job or the equivalent combination of knowledge and experience:
- Safety rules and regulations
- Industrial hygiene hazard exposure control
- Creating and maintaining safety performance metrics
- Incident investigation, analysis, reporting and corrective action identification and implementation
- Health and safety professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST)
- 40 Hour Hazwoper Training
- Applied Technology Council (ATC) 20
- Incident Command System (ICS) 100 or higher-level certifications
- The selected person will need a valid Washington State Driver's License upon hire.
