Summary

King County Department of Human Resources (DHR) seeks an analytical and collaborative professional to fill the role of Senior Classification and Compensation Analyst. This position is responsible for the delivery of compensation and classification services to support the recruitment, retention, and engagement of a highly qualified workforce. As a direct report to the Classification and Compensation Services Manager, you will be an integral member of the team and will provide critical support in both daily functions and strategic compensation initiatives.

The Senior Classification and Compensation Analyst will use well developed interpersonal skills to build relationships and effectively solve problems. You will bring a commitment to equity and social justice and will ensure compensation and classification programs, policies, and procedures are responsive to the County's compensation philosophy, goals, and practices.

The individual selected will be relied on to implement equitable classification and compensation programs and practices within a complex labor relations environment. You will navigate stressful situations with tact and diplomacy, and will ensure innovative compensation and classification solutions are implemented to address unique and sensitive problems. The ideal candidate will rely on their data literacy, compensation benchmarking, and position evaluation skills to solve problems analytically and collaboratively.

Job Duties

Successful candidates will clearly demonstrate skill and ability to:
  • Perform compensation and classification services for multiple business units with a focus on position analysis and evaluation in support of compensation and classification program administration.
  • Interview employees, research and interpret data, identify trends, convey findings, write clear and concise position analyses and determinations, and deliver results;
  • Consult and advise business units on compensation and classification best practices which meet current and future business needs;
  • Utilize internal and external resources, technology, and data literacy techniques to report metrics and improve customer decision-making;
  • Monitor and audit compensation and classification programs, practices, and deliverables to ensure compliance with King County Code; Human Resources Policy Guidelines' collective bargaining agreements; and applicable local, state, and federal law;
  • Intake reclassification and reconsideration requests; administer various internal tracking applications and spreadsheets;
  • Prioritize and work multiple tasks with critical deadlines;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Six or more years of relevant and progressive experience in human resources, mathematics, statistics, public/business administration, or accounting/finance; OR
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with compensation and classification services for multiple business units, with a focus on position analysis and evaluation in support of compensation and classification program administration.
  • Documented professional experience in a non-profit/public organization and/or in a union environment.
Other Position Information
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and not overtime-eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining agreement and is classified as XXX; class code: 231301.

Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly through telework, onsite work, and meetings. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
