The KCSO is looking for an Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Manager III (EIB III) to join our team. This position will provide courageous leadership to help support the KCSO in its efforts to encompass and support the advancement of equity, racial and social justice throughout King County.
Reporting to the Chief of Community Programs and Services and working collaboratively with the Sheriff’s Office Leadership Team, this position simultaneously reports to King County’s Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer. The KCSO EIB III will be responsible for supporting KCSO leadership to oversee, develop and implement KCSO’s pro-equity and anti-racist focused efforts and approaches. The KCSO EIB III will support KCSO leadership to increase equity/racial and social justice knowledge, skills and abilities throughout the department, and will work at all levels of the organization.

In this role you will:
• Partner with department leadership, Office Equity and Social Justice, criminal justice and equity and racial justice subject matter experts, human resources and others to define and drive and influence anti-racist/pro-equity actions and approaches throughout the department.
• Help ensure work units are knowledgeable and empowered to make decisions aligned to the department’s anti-racist/pro-equity goals.
• Provide consultation and coaching to support managers and other employees to be innovative and adaptive in providing culturally responsive, inclusive, and equitable programs and/or services.
• Work with KCSO leadership to identify and provide learning and capacity building opportunities to KCSO staff.
• Represent department’s anti-racist, pro-equity strategies & efforts at the department or county level.
• Support KCSO leaders to ensure awareness, involvement, and contributions to the department’s pro-equity/anti-racist focus
• Collaborate with human resources and other applicable teams to build internal and external partnerships that help attract and amplify under-represented and diverse perspectives.
• Work with departmental work units, OESJ and human resources to ensure best practices are applied to various processes throughout the department and continuously refined.- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Additional Desired Experience:
• Familiarity with Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or other component of the criminal legal system.
Required education and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources, education, sociology, public administration, social justice, or other applicable field; and
• Proof of progressive leadership experience; and
• Record of experience in advancing pro-equity/anti-racist inclusion, and belonging in a complex organization; OR
• Any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position- Supplemental Information

Selection Process
Applicants will be screened for competitiveness, completeness, and written communication skills. The most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in one or more interviews and/or other recruitment elements. Please note, interviews are tentatively held to begin the week of 10/3/22.
Work Schedule: This position is based on 40 hours per week (weekdays, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Hours may vary based on business need, and may include some occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours. This position is not subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay.
Work Location: This position is based at the King County Courthouse (501 Third Ave, Seattle, WA) and will have an opportunity for some telework each week.
Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
