Jail Health Services, a division of Public Health Seattle & King County , is recruiting for multiple Social Worker (Court Clinicians) who will bring their lived experiences as well as technical competencies to work as part of the Court Services team.
These opportunities will be a combination of both full time Career Service and Special Duty/Term-Limited Temporary.

Work Schedule & Location
Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Alternative work schedules are considered on a case-by-case basis and based on the need of the team.
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly on-site at the King County Courthouse 516 3rd Ave, Seattle WA 98104.

- Range 53: $36.6759 - $46.4889
- Public Health employees classified as Social Worker shall be eligible upon approval to receive a 4.5% Master Premium (e.g., Psychology, Behavioral Health, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling) from an accredited university.) above their current base pay rate on all earnings subject to QUALIFICATION AND APPROVAL as set forth in the Agreement (King County and Union).

- The King County Correctional Facility in Seattle, WA.
- Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, WA
- Performs comprehensive, culturally sensitive psycho-social assessments, make assessment of mental health and substance use disorders, conducts interviews to collect information, and gathers records for eligibility determination.
- Ensure program referrals have been executed, housing referrals, treatment referrals and health care coverage and public entitlement referrals have been made.
- For in-custody participants coordinate internal services through close collaboration with medical, psychiatric, nursing, and pharmacy staff at KCCF/MRJC employees and the staff of other King County departments (including the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention DAJD and the Department of Community and Human Services).
- Speak in court regarding clients' need for services, appropriate treatment programs, and family and community support.
- Collaborate closely with defense attorneys; city/county prosecutors; probation and corrections staff as authorized by the participant in order to support the effective implementation the opt-in treatment plan.
- Maintain a broad working knowledge and good professional relationship with key community substance abuse treatment facilities, social and health/mental health care providers, and criminal justice and corrections personnel.
- Apply equity and social justice principles and practices, and understanding of the effects of place, race and policy and systems-based inequities on marginalized communities and populations when making decisions and recommendations.
- Masters' Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, or Counseling from an accredited university.
- Ability to travel in a timely manner within King County to locations that may have limited access to public transportation.
- Maintain clearance for the King County Jails and other facilities as required by the position.
- Ability to successfully obtain agency affiliated counselor status within probationary period.
- Knowledge of specific challenges, trauma responses, behavior and needs for people experiencing legal involvement, housing instability, poverty, substance use disorder and mental health diagnoses compounded by discrimination and systemic oppression.
- Experience successfully providing assessments, treatment planning, case management, care coordination, crisis intervention and brief counseling independently in a correctional, court or social service setting..
- Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload of participants with complex needs by coordinating comprehensive services.
- Application of protocols and methodology for assessment, evaluation and documenting physical, psychological, and mental development.
- Application of criteria for diagnosis and assessment of mental and substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of fundamental social work principles, methodology and ethics.
- Skill in fostering client self-determination and empowerment within the therapeutic alliance.
- Working knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, including assessment for risk of suicide or harm to self or others.
- Working knowledge of medical, mental health, and substance abuse conditions, related terminology, and their treatment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively participate on a multi-disciplinary team of non-medical or social services personnel, including members of the Court and Corrections staff.
- Ability to set and maintain appropriate professional and therapeutic boundaries.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify and foster new possibilities for effective referral and collaboration with outside providers
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of organization to meet high-volume workload demands
- Provide timely and accurate documentation and reporting
- Social Work or Mental Health licensure (LICSW, LASW, LMHC, or recognized equivalent).
- Proficiency in a language other than English.
- Substance Use Professional certification desired.
- Specialized specific experience providing social work services for individuals involved with the criminal justice system who have severe and persistent mental health and substance use issues.
