King County Metro has a unique opportunity for a part time (50% FTE) Business and Finance Officer II (BFO II). Ideal candidates are looking to expand their knowledge in financial management and are skilled at working cooperatively with others across the organization and with external partners.
In partnership with division staff, you will support the finance operations for the Seattle Streetcar section, which is part of Metro's Rail Division. The Rail Division operates and maintains both Sound Transit's Link light-rail system and the City of Seattle's Seattle Streetcar service, complementing Metro's robust fixed-route system and other mobility services.

Job Duties

Two (2) or more years of experience or training or the equivalent combination of experience and education in financial operations, such as budgeting, expense monitoring, procurement, or payroll.

Job Duties

- Monitor Streetcar financials (Accounting entries, Personnel Coding, etc.).
- Maintain data integrity and knowledge of data structure across financial tools.
- Provide regular insight, analysis, and recommendations on finances and business processes to support division or section leadership in decision-making and maintaining the financial health of the organization.
- Provide project management support for budget development.
- Develop and prepare annual or biennial budgets, analyze, and monitor actual expenses, and develop updated spending projections.
- Work with divisional and section staff and Human Resources representatives to manage personnel counts and hiring.
- Manage financial reporting to division or section leadership, Metro's Finance and Administration Division, and regional partners, including presenting data at divisional or section business meetings on a regular basis.
- Provide additional support to Division or Section leadership as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Intermediate to advanced skills in using a software suite such as MSOffice Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- General understanding of project and financial accounting concepts and principles, including generally accepted accounting principles and indirect cost accounting.
- Ability to distill complex financial information into meaningful business analysis for a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills in the face of conflicting, and rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to develop financial strategies or plans and apply business analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of and experience with enterprise finance systems, analytical and reporting tools (such as Oracle EBS, OBIEE (BI Insights), Hyperion/PBCS, or PeopleSoft), and the ability to design business processes that work effectively in tandem with financial information systems.
- Experience and/or training specific to public sector and/or transit organization financials.
- Skill in data visualization such as Power BI.
