KCIT's Production Operations Application Support team is growing and is currently seeking to hire five Senior System Engineers to join our team and help us continue to deliver excellent production support for applications that support many agencies throughout the county. As a member of the team each position has a slightly different technology focus, providing tier 2 support for applications using one or more of the following technologies; Cloud/Custom Applications, Dynamics Platform, Vendor Systems, Data Integration/Business Intelligence. Work Schedule
The normal workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, alternative work schedules may be considered. These positions is not eligible for overtime pay.
Must provide application support in an After-Hours Support rotation.

- Develop software solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio
- Provide application support in an After-Hours Support rotation
- Modernize, implement updates, diagnose and fix bugs in legacy software
- Maintain application and custom code base in Azure DevOps
- Write and maintain support documentation, including troubleshooting guides and system architecture diagrams
- Keep up to date with latest technology trends applicable to software development and support; share information and collaborate with peers
- Develop, maintain, and support system integration processes utilizing PowerShell, Python, Informatica, T-SQL, and PL-SQL technologies
- Develop, maintain, and support agency reporting databases and data warehouses and associated process flows
- Maintain, support, and configure agency business intelligence and ETL vendor products (e.g. Power BI/SSRS, Tableau, Informatica, etc.)
- Provide System Lifecycle Management to ensure continuity of service
- Troubleshoot System issues, utilize Problem Management where needed and collaborate with other teams throughout KCIT and King County
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) OR an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience in relational and non-relational data storage designs
- Agile and DevOps experience
- Experience working with web - cloud based technologies preferably with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure Services
- Experience working across multiple functional teams in projects and also to support systems
- Experience working as a liaison between operational support, software engineering and data architecture, in understanding the technology road map, and developing a plan to keep operations in sync with new technologies being adopted at King County
- Experience in proactive SDLC management of systems
- Experience using multiple monitoring tools (SCOM, SPLUNK, Orion) to proactively manage systems
- Prior experience in public sector and/or a desire to work in public service
- Experience performing system testing and validation, and code review and acceptance
- Experience with Power Shell or other scripting tools
- Experience with MSN SQL Server support
- Experience in consulting with customers for support needs
- Experience as a project technical lead
- Experience working with web services and APIs
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proven ability and experience providing excellent customer service
- Strong analytical and strategic skills; ability to synthesize complex information and influence decision makers turning strategy into action
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
As a member of the team each position has a slightly different technology focus, providing tier 2 support for applications using one or more of the following technologies; Cloud/Custom Applications, Dynamics Platform, Vendor Systems, Data Integration/Business Intelligence. Below are the desirable qualifications for each technical focus.- Cloud/Custom Applications:
- Familiarity with cloud integration and Microsoft Azure – App Service, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management and B2C
- Experience working with cloud software engineers, develop monitoring dashboards and alerts for cloud components and provide mentorship and guidance for other operational team members
- 3+ years of professional experience working within the Microsoft development stack using several of the following technologies: Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, Microsoft ASP.NET MVC, Microsoft ASP.NET WebAPI, .Net Core, Microsoft Entity Framework 6+, AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, React / Angular frameworks and CSS
- Dynamics Platform:
- Expert level experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics platform; performing configuration changes and small system enhancements
- Vender Systems:
- Expert level experience in COTS and SaaS support, leading application and hardware upgrades, and as a technical point person on new projects while assisting in day to day system support
- Data Integration/Business Intelligence:
- 3+ years of experience as a system integrator
- Advanced SQL Server and/or Oracle database knowledge and skills including development of T-SQL and/or PL/SQL procedures
- Experience using and supporting Informatica products (Informatica Cloud/PowerCenter, DQM, and EIC)
- Experience with Azure SQL and Azure SQL Data Warehouse platforms
- Experience using and supporting business intelligence tools (e.g. SQL Server Reporting Services/Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, etc.)
- Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting reporting databases, data marts, and/or data warehouses
