The Children’s Justice Center of King County (CJCKC) is seeking candidates for a Training and Outreach Coordinator to serve the King County MDT (multidisciplinary team) handling child special assault cases including, but not limited to, sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and homicide. The CJCKC is housed in the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO), Special Assault Unit. This Training and Outreach Coordinator position is funded for two years with a high likelihood of continued funding in perpetuity. The MDT, which is comprised of many community partners including the CJCKC, KCPAO, law enforcement, advocacy, the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), medical and mental health providers and others, is a powerful, victim-centered approach that brings together professionals and experts in the field to provide the best response possible. Increasing awareness of the CJCKC and the MDT model and providing specialized, high-quality training to our partners and the community at large are promising ways to ensure the best outcomes for children who are victims and witnesses of crime. This position will lead these efforts while developing and strengthening relationships with the diverse community we serve.- Job Duties
- Provide education and training to MDT partners
- Coordinate and facilitate the training for special assault investigators (SAU 201)
- Develop, in consultation with the Director of Programming, trainings similar to the SAU 201 for DCYF, CSEC and others
- Coordinate and create trainings, in consultation with CJCKC staff and MDT partners, on a variety of topics including resiliency, equity and social justice and child abuse
- Send out a newsletter and other communications that highlight training opportunities
- Develop and implement a community outreach plan that identifies and builds relationships with community agencies, schools, and underserved populations that are not actively involved in the CJCKC
- Meet with community partners on an ongoing basis to educate them about the CJCKC and the services it provides
- In consultation with CJCKC staff and MDT partners, create an MDT orientation manual and training that will be provided to all new members of the MDT
- Provide MDT partners with orientation to the CJCKC and the MDT model within six months of their hire to partner agencies
- Provide one-time trainings to community agencies on topics related to child abuse
- Develop outreach materials for the CJCKC
- Kids’ Court and Teen Court are court education programs that give children and their families information about what to expect when going to trial
- In consultation with the Director of Programming, develop electronic and digital materials to be available to children, teens and their families
- Evaluate program effectiveness, in coordination with the Director of Programming, to determine necessary changes and updates to the structure and content of the program
- Identify potential invitees, coordinate the invitation process and follow-up as needed
- Coordinate volunteers and informational materials for the program
- Provide logistical support on the day of Kids’ Court and Teen Court
- Be available for consultation with community partners on appropriate training
- Connect community partners with training resources, as requested
- Coordinate with others in the county who are providing trainings to MDT partners to develop necessary, unduplicated training.
- Meet with children and families to answer questions and provide support as needed
- Respond to parents and families who present to the CJCKC in crisis or with requests or questions

- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Demonstrated interest in issues related to child abuse
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in providing training to diverse groups of people
- Work experience in a variety of settings including child advocacy centers, prosecutor’s offices, medical and mental health settings, child protection, advocacy and others
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people with diverging opinions
- Ability to build relationships and trust with community partners
- Creative problem solver
- Willingness to work on a team
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel throughout King County
- Occasional evenings and weekends required
- Masters in Social Work (MSW) preferred

Washington State Driver’s License
Must pass a criminal history background check and fingerprinting
Must be able to lift and move boxes, documents and sit or stand for long periods of time.
This position will provide the opportunity to work closely with the staff at the Children’s Justice Center of King County as well as the hundreds of community partners who work with child victims and witnesses of crime. The Training and Outreach Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Programming.
