Transit Administrative Support Specialist II, Reduced Fares Team
- Summary
The Reduced Fares Team has an opportunity for a Transit Administrative Support Specialist II (TASS II). This position will provide specialized data entry and customer service support for Metro’s reduced fare programs, including ORCA LIFT and the subsidized annual pass. The TASS II will enter data into the ORCA LIFT system, work with confidential customer information, provide support to internal and external partners as they create and maintain user ORCA accounts, respond to questions from community partners and other Metro staff, and resolve customer issues in a professional and timely manner. In addition, this position will work closely with Metro’s Fare Media Sales team and ORCA LIFT partners, including Public Health – Seattle & King County, the City of Seattle, and various community agencies.

- Enter and extract data in ORCA LIFT Registry, other databases, and spreadsheets
- Ensure data entry accuracy and integrity and reports conform to procedures, protocols, and time requirements; resolve data entry and reporting errors; recommend process improvements to better respond to program operating needs
- Act as liaison between the ORCA LIFT program and community organizations to register, update and troubleshoot ORCA LIFT Card participant information
- Register and provide excellent customer service to ORCA LIFT participants that require registration assistance in the office
- Issue replacement cards for customers. Block lost or stolen cards in the ORCA system and link replacement cards to customer in the ORCA LIFT database. Assist program staff in developing procedures for replacing lost and stolen cards, and for renewing eligibility.
- Support King County reduced fare programs by maintaining ORCA card inventory and mailing program informational materials upon request
- Provide general administrative support by managing staff calendars, coordinating meetings and conference calls, preparing meeting agendas, taking notes, and following through on action items as necessary
- Respond to inquiries related to the King County Metro's reduced fare programs in a professional and timely manner
- Provide support for ORCA LIFT community outreach events, which may include coordinating supplies, speaking with customers, and interacting with diverse groups throughout King County
- Provide customer service by phone and in person during business hours
- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with large amounts of repetitive data entry principles and techniques in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience providing clerical support and customer service experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and education which match the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform the work
- Experience working with people who live in poverty and/or the agencies who serve them in the community
- Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to clearly communicate information and findings by providing reports, graphics, visualizations, and other materials for use with the public, stakeholders, decision-makers, internal staff, and other audiences
- Capable of learning new tasks and processes to support team assignments and production goals
- Skill in maintaining data integrity and accuracy
- Skill in maintaining multiple automated recordkeeping and data systems and office supply inventories
- Skill in keyboarding and associated safety practices
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Organized and attentive to detail with strong prioritization skills
- Ability to ensure data entry and reporting conforms to established procedures, protocols, and time requirements; resolve data entry and reporting errors, follow established procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity; recommend process improvements to better respond to program operating needs.

- Fluency in one of King County's most frequently used languages other than English: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Somali, Ukrainian, Amharic, and Punjabi – referred to as Tier 1 or Tier 2 languages in the County's Executive Order on Translation and/or American Sign Language

Selection Process

Work Schedule
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay (with prior supervisor approval). A typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Work outside of the normal workday is required periodically.
