SDA Opportunity: Transit Operations Security Liaison

We are seeking letters of interest from full-time Metro Transit Operators represented by ATU 587 for three six-month special duty assignments (SDA) as Transit Operations Security Liaison, expected to begin in September 2020 with a possible six-month extension through September 2021.
The anticipated body of work to be assigned includes:
1. Retrieval and processing of video from coach CCTV systems.
2. Interfacing with other work-groups and other entities regarding coach video.
3. Representing the Security section at meetings and hearings.
4. Interfacing with operators and others regarding coach video and other security topics.
5. Other duties as assigned.
We are looking for candidates who have the following REQUIRED qualifications:- Three years full-time driving experience.
- Exemplary attendance record.
- Possession of a current, unrestricted Washington Commercial Driver’s License: Class B, passenger endorsed, air brake restriction removed is necessary. Additionally, a current CDL Medical Examiner’s card is required. Successful candidates will need to activate equipment on a coach during the process of securing video, the rare but plausible need to relocate a coach in an emergency, and similar operational contingencies, we require intimate familiarity with coach operations.

The most competitive candidates will have the following DESIRED qualifications:- Knowledge of and respect for maintaining chain-of-custody.
- Awareness of Metro and ATU agreements regarding the appropriate use of video.
- Technical competency with CCTV systems and computers.
- Knowledge of Metro’s fleet management/deployment/hosteling program.
- Knowledge of the bus operating environment and buses themselves.
- Knowledge and basic understanding in Microsoft office products, Word, Outlook and Excel specifically.

Safety-Sensitive Position
This is a safety-sensitive position. Applicants are subject to random, post- accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with federal DOT alcohol and controlled substance testing program protocols.
Selection Process
Applications will be screened for clarity, completeness, and competitiveness. The most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a panel interview. Transit Security management will make the final selection.
SDA offers will be finalized after candidates have successfully completed reference/attendance checks.
Work Schedule
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay. The work week is normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be available to work an altered schedule, including swing and graveyard shifts as needed, and be willing to be on-call when deemed necessary to respond to job responsibilities.
Work Location
Work will generally be performed at Atlantic/Central Base Operations, but may include all Metro bases or locations anywhere within the Metro service area.
