King County Metro is seeking an inspired thought leader and Transit enthusiast for its Transit Technology Operations (TTO) supervisor position. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated change agent with a high capacity for reduced incident occurrence, measurable and continuous operations improvement, and process documentation.
This leadership position has multiple direct reports who are the key contacts for escalation on some of Metro's most critical systems including on-bus systems, operator communication, transit signal priority, ORCA technical operations, a completely updated wireless communication system, and SaaS enterprise solutions. Reporting to the Transit Technology Manager, as part of the TTO management team, this trusted advisor position works with internal and external partners to develop, implement and manage the effective business processes and service management approaches required to maintain steady-state operations, implement new technical systems, support the overall work of the section and support Transit clients and stakeholders.

Job Duties

As the TTO Supervisor, you will:
A bachelor's degree in technology management, engineering, computer science, or a closely
related field AND at least 7-years experience leading and performing systems testing, designing and implementing industry best practices test methodologies and analysis of test data in controlled environments and live production systems in IT service operations environment.

The work associated with this position will be performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking and onsite work and meetings . This position will be on site at least two times a week (public transportation/free parking is available).
Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities . Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and not overtime-eligible. As the supervisor, you will be the first point of contact as emergency escalation for the on-call TTO analysts . Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek.

Job Duties

As the TTO Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise functional analysts and other assigned staff in the Transit Technology Operations group.
- Manage and oversee the daily administration and technical operations of assigned systems to ensure business continuity for system stakeholders.
- As required, monitor and coordinate the business and data management processes that support the assigned systems, providing coordination, analysis, planning, troubleshooting and quality control needed to ensure overall business continuity.
- Lead the development and maintenance of standard documentation such as system descriptions, functional and technical descriptions, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, user manuals, change management and test procedures, issue logs, ticket tracking, workgroup budget and management reports.
- Coordinate with King County IT managers and staff supporting enterprise system hardware, databases and network connectivity, to ensure system stability and performance goals are met.
- Work with project managers from the Capital projects group within TTO on major system procurements, including project scope definition, development, testing, deployment, and transition to production steady state.
- Identify business impacts and criteria for success associated with system fixes, modifications, and enhancements.
- Assist with licensing and invoice payments for TTO-managed systems and provide contract and inventory support to ensure service level objectives are maintained.
- In collaboration with project teams and contractors, prioritize, reconcile, and resolve variances from system performance requirements and specifications.
- Ensure or provide budget and appropriate oversight reporting.
- Ensure that assigned staff comply with established system administration and management processes, procedures and best practices.
- Assist in managing vendor relationships and support contracts for ongoing maintenance, triage, system recovery, necessary system upgrades and enhancements.
- Other duties as assigned
A bachelor's degree in technology management, engineering, computer science, or a closely

- Demonstrated experience performing system management and administration on complex, highly visible, and critical systems.
- Experience in supervising and/or leading technical teams, with demonstrated ability to lead and/or supervise staff in successful system management processes and outcomes.
- Demonstrated history of managing complex vendor contracts, negotiating Service Level Agreements, and developing & enforcing enforceable Service Level Objectives.
- Demonstrated a history of flexibility and adaptability in managing and responding to competing priorities and changing assignments.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff and contractors engaged in the development, design, review, installation, testing and implementation of systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information, prepare clear and concise materials and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated skills working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong technical data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines.
- Understanding of budget principles and practices.
- Prior King County experience is highly desired.
- Prior experience in transit or transportation is highly desired.
- Professional certification such as ITIL, ISO, COBIT.
