Join our team! The Procurement and Payables Section of the Finance and Business Operations Division is looking for a Travel Services Support Specialist (Project Program Manager II) with exceptional organizational and communication skills to provide superior direct customer support for travel services including bookings, travel service options and strategies to County departments and employees.
The primary focus of this role is providing customer service, program management and liaison for the travel in-take process through utilization of the County online travel program and booking system. This position will ensure training is delivered, understood and adopted by users; and assist employees who are traveling with all aspects of utilizing the on-line travel booking system (Concur), arranging for and assisting with booking work-related trips. The Travel Services Support Specialist is expected to represent the department as a member of the Procurement and Payables Section.

Primary Responsibilities would include: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:
- Serve as the primary functional lead in all aspects of travel management utilizing King County’s travel system (Concur) including contract administration. Ensure travelers comply with all County travel regulations, policies and procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to King County employees and vendors. Respond to inquiries about procedures, processes or relevant travel regulations.
- Develop, oversee and provide user friendly training for King County’s travel and compliance requirements; conduct individual and group training on a routine basis.
- Identify and follow-up to resolve any discrepancies in compliance requirements, requiring the understanding of data relationships between the travel on-line booking system (Concur), and King County’s expense system (Oracle EBS).
- Work with Accounts Payable and travel card holders to ensure compliance with County’s policies and procedures; ensure charges are reconciled against appropriate departmental accounts, and the timely reimbursement of travel related expenses.
- Prepare narrative and informational reports; compile and organize information requiring the understanding and evaluation of data sources, which may include special projects or extensive reports; generate monthly travel KPI reports.
- Identify and advocate for opportunities to improve current Concur and travel-related operating procedures, processes and policies.
- Maintain travel program documentation, records and/or data systems.
Competitive Candidates will have:
- Familiarity with the travel service industry, policies and procedures and ability to independently resolve problems.
- Experience working with travel service providers and booking requirements.
- Skill in coordinating, organization and providing project support for business processes.
- Communicate effectively with the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly.
- Strong skills in analytical thinking, problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and establish effective working relationships.
- Experience developing and providing training to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret state, federal and County policies and procedures.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
- Ability to travel to all County departments to participate in training and/or engage with customers as necessary.
- Experience with automated travel booking systems, i.e. the Concur on-line booking tool, or similar automated travel/booking system.
- Experience working within state and local government institutions and/or similar environment.
- Knowledge of King County’s iExpense system in Oracle EBS.
Other Position Information:
This position is overtime-eligible. Our employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour work week; normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 117, Professional and Technical Employees. This position is classified as a Project Program Manager II.
