King County International Airport (KCIA) is seeking a undergraduate-level engineering intern to help deliver capital projects that will shape this “City within a City” for decades. Through collaboration with KCIA’s growing team of engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, you will gain hands-on experience in infrastructure elements including pavement design and construction, environmental remediation, buildings, and utilities (stormwater, sanitary sewer, electrical and communications).

Internship Program - King County
**Currently all internships at KCIA will be performed fully remote with no on-site workdays due to public safety guidelines related to COVID-19**
Work Schedule: This is a FULLY TELEWORK 40 hour per week position normally working Monday through Friday, 8 – 5 p.m. There may be times when after-hours, weekends and/or holidays are required. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Mandatory overtime and weekends may be required depending on the workload. (To be adjusted as needed per position). This position will be required to work 40 hours during the summer and 20 hours during the school year. The hours of work are generally flexible within normal business hours.

Q: What benefits will I receive as an intern?
A: You will receive a free ORCA transit fare pass (good on Metro, Pierce Transit, Kitsap Transit, Kitsap Fast Ferries, Community Transit, Everett Transit, Sound Transit and King County's Water Taxi). Additionally, you will accrue .025 hours of paid sick leave for each hour in pay status.
Q: How much will this internship pay?
A: Undergraduate - $17.78/hour
Q: When will this internship begin/end?
A: This internship will usually commence the week after the candidate completes their 2020-2021 school year, and ends one year later. We will work with the intern two weeks prior to the start of the student's regular school schedule to set up a schedule that will allow them to work part-time during the school year (20 hours/ week).

TEMPORARY TELECOMMUTING REQUIREMENT
The work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. It is possible that the work will be primarily performed remotely on an ongoing basis after July 5, 2021. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
