Councilmember Reagan Dunn represents the 9th District, which includes the cities of Bellevue, Black Diamond, Covington, Enumclaw, Kent, Maple Valley, New Castle, Renton, and unincorporated King County.

The Metropolitan King County Council oversees the 2nd largest government and the most populous county in WA State. With over 2.25 million residents, King County is the 13th largest county in the United States. King County provides an array of regional services, including public health, Metro transit, wastewater treatment, solid waste, community and human services, and criminal justice and is the local government for the roughly 250,000 people living in unincorporated areas of the County.
Job Duties

Job Duties to Promote Learning
Track and Manage Council Committees - follow legislation within assigned council committees, flag important information, and research relevant topics.
Policy Development - develop policy that would be relevant to assigned committees, which could include highlighting potential opportunities for new legislation/motions and providing extra information and expertise on existing policy.
Constituent Management - manage constituent issues, which may include directing issues to other team members within their assigned subject matter area, manage cases in our internal tracker as well as addressing individual cases. Addressing cases often include working with other county agencies, reaching out to constituents, and hunting down solutions for the constituents.
District Outreach, Information, and Tracking - tracking community information from news, community members, organizations, and other stakeholders as to the needs of our district. to paint a broad picture of the needs and state of the district.
Veteran Military Relations - responsibility for Veteran/Military outreach and relations for our office. This includes representing the office in VMAG, giving grants to local VFWs, and engaging with the military/veteran community throughout the district.

WORK LOCATION AND HOURS
This experience will be 35 hours/week and work will vary based on the needs of the Councilmember and will typically include onsite work in the King County Courthouse or the District Office with one to two days of remote work. The duration of this experience is one year.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience providing administrative support
- Experience managing confidential and sensitive issues effectively and with integrity.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service with discretion, patience, and professionalism both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage competing demands and ensure team needs are met; prioritize tasks while meeting critical deadlines and maintaining accuracy of work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of staff and the public; handle difficult interpersonal interactions with discretion and diplomacy.
- Capable of working independently in a busy work environment, take initiative to problem solve, exercise good judgment, and accept personal responsibility for work.
- Experience preparing, formatting, proofreading, and editing documents including correspondence and files.
- Proficient skill in Microsoft 365 to include Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Technology savvy using various social media platforms.

- Veteran Fellow I - $19.33 - $24.50 -; Enlisted grade E1 - E3; or High School graduate or pursuing bachelor's degree
- Veteran Fellow II - $21.76 - $27.58 - Enlisted grade E4 - E6 or possess bachelor's degree; or pursuing a master's degree
- Veteran Fellow III - $27.59 - $34.97 - Enlisted grade E7 - E9 or completed master's or Officer rank
- .025 hours of sick leave accruals for each hour worked
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits (for the veteran and their qualifying dependents) for positions that are projected to work 30 or more hours per week (not available to positions projected to work less than 30 hours per week)

- Please note, veteran fellow positions are not eligible for vacation leave, holiday pay, or retirement programs
- All Veteran Fellow participants will work jointly with their supervisor to develop an Individual Development Plan to delineate, regularly discuss, and jointly shape the participant's fellowship experience for mutual benefit.
- The Vets 4 HIRE Program Manager facilitates a monthly group meeting with Veteran Fellows as a way to connect with one another, share tips on different topics, and build camaraderie. Guest speakers will be brought in periodically.
- Veteran Fellows are encouraged to participate in King County's Veterans and Military Affinity Group to network with other employees at King County who have served or are currently serving in the National Guard or Reserve.
- Veteran Fellows are encouraged to participate in King County's Mentorship Program .
- The Vets 4 HIRE Program Manager will meet individually with participants to learn more about their career goals and provide one-one coaching on how to effectively apply and interview for other positions at King County.
