Come Join our team! King County Fleet Services Division is se eking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as its Zero Emissions Program Manager . T h is position is responsible for leading efforts in advancing the County's Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) goals for reducing greenhous e gas emissions in County transportation through fleet electrification and zero emission vehicles . Fleet Services leads th e electric vehicle and zero emissions planning and transition efforts for a fleet of over 3,000 assets .

The Zero Emissions Program Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation in King County operations. Under the direction of the Director, this position plans, coordinates, and leads the implementation of electric and zero-emission vehicles in the County's fleet. The ideal candidate has a strong background in vehicle electrification and experience with EV technologies, infrastructure, and market trends. The ideal candidate also possesses strong project management skills with a focus on collaboration and customer engagement.

ABOUT FLEET SERVICES DIVISION

The Fleet Services Division manages King County's portfolio of vehicles and equipment. The team performs acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of approximately 3,000 fleet assets for the County's services associated with the Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Roads, Parks, Wastewater, Water and Land Resources, and other agencies. The division manages two maintenance shops which include robust storerooms of automotive parts, materials, and construction supplies as well as several technicians working in the field to support remote customer sites .

In addition, the Fleet Division i s responsible for the disposition of the county's p ersonal property assets, which includes a surplus warehouse in Georgetown. Disposal methods can include re-use within the county, donation to verified and approved non-profits, and sales through online portals or sealed/negotiated bids.

Job Duties



KEY DELIVERABLES AND EXPECATIONS

Th is program manager will:
  • Lead the transition plan development and implementation of electric vehicles with agency partners .
  • Stay current on industry best practices and trends in sustainability , electric vehicle technologies , and other emerging zero-emission vehicle technologies .
  • Develop strategies for transitioning the County fleet to zero-emission vehicles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan for and expand EV infrastructure and supply equipment across King County.
  • Analyze and recommend policies that support EV adoption, including incentives, regulations, and partnerships.
  • Analyze and support the vehicle purchasing process to ensure implementation of zero emission vehicles that meet operational needs across the County.
  • Manage contracts with EV and infrastructure vendors and consulting partners.
  • Monitor and report on program progress, ensuring alignment with SCAP targets.

  • Be customer-focused and comfortable advising and partnering with customers, stakeholders, and senior leadership about complex initiatives, policies and issues.
  • Understand how to manage complex projects including scoping and organizing resources, developing work programs, and facilitating multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Be able to persevere and adapt as required , while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environmen t.

This position requires candidates to live in Washington State and within a reasonable commuting distance to their worksite.
