Who May Apply
This position is open to the general public and this recruitment process will be used to fill one Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position OR Special Duty Assignment (SDA) that is anticipated to last eighteen (18) months. The SDA opportunity is only open to current King County career service and appointed employees that have completed their initial King County probation.
Work Schedule
The typical work week is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is eligible for overtime pay.

- As a member of the administrative support team, help greet and direct visitors to the office, answer phone calls, and respond to email and voicemail messages sent to the DHR.
- Act as primary back-up to DHR's receptionist.
- Coordinate the county-wide Employee Service Awards Program, including communicating with department liaisons, ordering and distributing signed certificates, scheduling quarterly presentations with King County Council and Executive Office staff, and maintaining accurate records.
- Compose, draft, proofread and edit documents and report and/or correspondence as instructed.
- Assist with meeting scheduling, calendaring, and meeting logistics, including scheduling panelists and applicants for job interviews.
- Assist with the coordination and scheduling of ad hoc HR project work teams, attend meetings, take notes, and prepare minutes and graphic summaries.
- Assist the DHR Director's Office and administrative team in managing paper and electronic records based on DHR records file plan. Send and receive inactive records for storage. Assist the DHR Public Records Officer with records searches and responses to Public Records Act requests.
- Provide general office administrative support including formatting and finalizing documents, preparing hard copies and electronic files for presentation, assisting with large mailings, opening postal mail, and logging checks and payments received.
- Assist the administrative team in responding to Verification of Employment requests, and track responses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
- Three years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.
Other Qualifications:- Knowledge of general office policies, principles and practices
- Knowledge of software applications and word processing skills relative to the position assignment
- Knowledge of accounting procedures and mathematics
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, codes, laws, policies, procedures and ordinances related to travel and training, contracts and procurement, records management, public disclosure, and human resources management
- Knowledge of action tracking on specific work assignments or other items related to work position
- Excellent attention to detail
