Administrator I (Term Limited Temporary or Special Duty)
- Summary
King County's Department of Local Services (DLS) Director's office is seeking an Administrator I to provide administrative and project support to the Deputy Director, Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer, and External Relations Manager. This role involves daily interaction with the organization at all levels as well as external contacts.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter who has excellent interpersonal skills, a keen attention to detail, an ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and a commitment to equity and social justice.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL SERVICES:
King County is the local service provider for the roughly one quarter-million people who live in the unincorporated areas of the county; collectively, these communities would be the second largest city in the state. The Department of Local Services includes a Director's Office of 15 people, and the Road Services and Permitting Divisions. Together, this department provides a single executive point of accountability for delivery of local services to all of the unincorporated areas.

- Job Duties
The Administrator I will work in the Director's Office of the Department of Local Services and will provide administrative and project support to the Deputy Director, Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and External Relations Manager. Duties primarily include assisting the CFO with accounts payable; supporting and leading the use of Sharepoint; serving as the Director's Office Records Coordinator; and working as an integral part of the External Relations Team to plan, organize, and report back on community meetings. Other duties may include developing tracking systems and materials in support of Director's Office initiatives; coordinating with Department administrative and program staff; and other duties as assigned.
- Provide business and support services for Director's Office; act as back-up for Director's Executive Assistant; assist with calendaring, as requested.
- Participate in the coordination, marketing, and support of community outreach events, programs, or projects
- Assist in organizing the logistics related to community outreach events (location, supplies, marketing materials, attendee communications, etc.).
- Respond to inquiries about procedures, processes, events, programs, projects or other County Services.
- Assist in the identification and analysis of financial information, including reviewing expenditures and discrepancies.
- Assign and pay weekly invoices, under the direction of the CFO.
- Purchase equipment and supplies for the Director's Office.
- Greet visitors and answer phone in Director's office.
- Assist the Chief of Staff in the development of and revisions to administrative systems.
- Assist with new employee orientation and setup.
- Support and lead the use of the Director's Office Sharepoint site.
- Serve as Director's Office Records Coodinator, and support Content Manager/Records Retention System implementation.
- Develop monitoring and tracking systems to support work activities and track event data; administer and monitor such systems.
- Prepare reports, charts, graphs, or other materials necessary to present management positions.
- Compose, draft, summarize, prepare, proofread, and edit issue responses, presentations, reports, letters and memos to ensure they conform to established procedure and support high customer service standards.
- Coordinate with other administrative staff in the Department to ensure the policies, procedures, and communications are consistently being applied across the Department.
- Provide information to management and staff on administrative policies and procedures.
- Represent the work unit, division or department on internal committees or task forces as assigned.
- Apply equity and social justice principles as a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees.

This position is open to all qualified applicants. If you are a King County employee in a Career Service position, you may be eligible for Special Duty assignment. Work Schedule
The typical work week is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
